Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I was expecting a delivery from UPS and I had to wait until 9 pm until I knew for sure it wouldn’t be arriving! It’s extra frustrating because the parcel includes my free product thank you gifts for my customers! Grrr!!
To help me relax, I went into my studio to make a card for today! I was planning to share another Quite Curvy card that I’d made recently but card making is therapeutic! During the day yesterday, I had seen a couple of cards on Facebook which I really liked. I have pulled off one main element from each card and combined them to create my 5½” x 5½” card. Whilst I like traditional colours for Christmas cards, I also like purples like Highland Heather and Purple Posy! And despite my original negative thoughts about the Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper (DSP), I think the designs are absolutely gorgeous!
The two main ideas I had for my card was the four squares and the baubles. Apart from that, I didn’t know what direction I was going with my card! Using my Stamparatus I stamped six of the small baubles from the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set on Whisper White Cardstock (CS). I went through my DSP to see what pieces I could use for the squares and also a complimentary design for the background. I used the square no. 2 die from the Stitched Shapes Dies to die-cut my four squares.
I used my Light and Dark Purple Posy Stampin Blends to colour the baubles, not to achieve shading but to highlight certain areas with the darker colour. To colour the gold top on the baubles I used my retired Wink of Stella gold pen. Slowly the design was coming together so I was able to go ahead and prepare my different layers. I made my 5½” x 5½” card base with Highland Heather CS, then a Whisper White CS layer which is 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ square, and my DSP layer that’s 5″ x 5″. The next Whisper White CS layer is 4″ x 4″ and the Highland Heather CS layer is 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″. I embossed this layer using the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. I cut squares of Foam Adhesive Sheet to pop the bauble squares up on Dimensionals.
These Foam Adhesive Sheets are amazing because they provide so much support for any images they are used for and they’re so much easier to use than getting the backs off individual Dimensionals! After I had adhered the four squares in position, I added Dimensionals to the baubles and then adhered them in place.
I made a small gold cord bow for each bauble and I found the ready-made and die-cut sentiment inside the cello bag inside the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set! After putting a small amount of Tombow on all outside edges and adhered it onto the four squares. To finish off the front of my card I added some clear rhinestones in the centres of the snowflakes and on the squares. I also painted the baubles using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. To decorate the inside of the card I added a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Purple Posy CS. I painted the fifth bauble with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen. The sixth bauble survives for another project on another day! This weekend hubby and I are planning to get our Christmas cards written and posted. This is when I’ll find out if I’ve made enough!
Hopefully, my parcel will arrive from UPS today together with the other three that are scheduled to arrive! These other boxes contain the new Spring/Summer Mini Catalogues and the Sale-a-bration brochures. I’m planning to post these out to my customers on Christmas Eve so they arrive on Tuesday 29th December which will allow a week of browsing before they go live on 5th January 2021!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime take care and stay safe. Happy crafting!
JanB. xx

This is a truly beautiful card Jan and I can see me making this one but not Christmas themed. I was given a set of very small stamps from Hero Arts (all flowers and stems) and I can definitely see these stamps on this card. I will have a go at working out the sizes. I think one of your sizings on yesterday’s Fanciest Fancy card is incorrect. You said 1-5/8ths x 1-2/8ths. Think it should be 1-5/8ths square. XXX Mal
Many thanks for pointing that out, Mal, I’ll go back and change it. This layout would fit flowers beautifully! xx
Another stunning creation! Can you buy envelopes to suit these dimensions? I am a fan of changing out the traditional red and green (one year I did PURPLE!). Besides I love Highland Heather. This design is gorgeous as is but also offers an interesting “sketch” for other occasions. THanks always!!!
Hi, Billie. Here in the UK we can buy 5.5″ x 5.5″ envelopes and 6″ x 6″ envelopes. For this card I’d recommend 6″ x 6″ because I used double layer of Dimensionals and this envelope will allow for that depth easily. I agree about the sketch idea – you’ve got my brain whirring now! LOL! xx
