Hello, Crafters.
I hope you had a great weekend. As planned I wrote most of our Christmas cards on Sunday and had them posted yesterday. I still have plenty leftover but I was disappointed I hadn’t created many religious Christmas cards. So I need to concentrate on making a few. Today’s card is the first one and this is also the first time that I have used the dies to create this dove using the Detailed Dove Dies. I decided I’d make five cards the same whatever design I came up with.
This started with me die-cutting ten solid wings using our Vellum Cardstock (CS) plus ten Whisper White CS decorative wings and five bodies. Next I made five Night of Navy CS card bases, ten Whisper White CS middle layers, five top Night of Navy CS layers and five Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper (DSP) top layers. The sentiment I’ve used is PEACE – HOPE – JOY from the Dove of Hope Stamp Set. I had used the sentiment on a previous occasion but I had cut PEACE away from the other two words.
If I ever cut my stamps like this, I always cut in a straight line so I can line them up side by side if I want to use them as one complete stamp in the future! I lined the stamp up on my Stamparatus and tested to make sure it was straight! I cut five ¾” wide strips of Night of Navy CS that would fit the width of my top layer. After wiping over with my Embossing Buddy, I stamped the sentiment using Versamark Ink. I dipped the strip into my box of White Emboss Powder and flicked off the excess. Next I heat set them.
The verse for the inside of my card is from For Unto Us stamp set and the plan was to add a middle layer of Whisper White CS, and stamp the sentiment using Night of Navy Ink. Then I changed my mind! I decided to heat emboss the sentiment on a top layer of Night of Navy CS using White Emboss Powder! By now time was pushing on and I decided to finish off one card and then leave the other four to finish off today! I lined the sentiment up on my Stamparatus and checked to make it was straight before I went ahead! Well, it looked straight to me! I’m not overly concerned because it really is a tad not straight!
The white embossed sentiment fits in beautifully with this card design but it does mean I’ll need to sign the card using a Whisper White gel pen. To finish off my card, I added a Night of Navy Rhinestone from the Holiday Rhinestones to the Dove’s eye. I also added two frosted Elegant Faceted Gems to the sentiment strip. That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Many thanks, Christine. xx
Hi Jan, I love this card. I especially love the vellum behind the wings. I’m going to take a look at my dies and see how I can use that technique. Thanks for all your hard work. Sheron
Many thanks, Sheron. I wish we still had our “white” glitter paper! I’m sure that would look fabulous too! xx
