Hello, Crafters,
As it’s 1st December today, we can start the countdown to Christmas and it will certainly be a Christmas with a difference this year. The pandemic restrictions in the UK will allow eight people from three family bubbles to get together. I know there is a large percentage of the UK population who will, like hubby and me, make the decision to stay home alone! It’s going to be tough knowing that both my son and daughter and their families will be just ten-fifteen minutes drive away from us but we accept that the virus won’t be taking a five-day break over the Christmas holiday!
On the positive side, our son-in-law Leigh is organising a family Zoom party for us all to play games together. No doubt it will all get rather chaotic but it’ll be fun and we’ll all be “together”! We’ll also be looking forward to our family Christmas in July, too, because we’re sure the worst will be over and vaccinations will be readily available. We haven’t had a chance to fill advent calendars for each other so we’re going to be popping chocolates in each of the little drawers! This’ll be a big tease for me because I can’t eat just one! LOL! 😀
Today’s card is a combination of two stamp sets and uses up two Whisper White CS leftover scraps from the Curvy Dies. There are so many positives about the current Curvy bundle and as I have shown with today’s card, when you die-cut some Designer Series Paper (DSP) or cardstock, you can use both sections for cards. The other halves of my two pieces were plain straight cut edges which I used on one card and saved the two “off-cuts”. They have worked beautifully for today’s card!
When I first saved them I had no idea how I’d be able to use them but I saved them anyway and I’m glad I did. The stamp I used on both pieces is from the Curvy Christmas Stamp Set and, to me, it looks like music. Therefore, whatever I decided for my card I knew I’d need the birds. I had one ready-made and had to make two more. Then it was a toss up between using a snowman or trees and I went for the snowman as he is more fitting for birds and music – in my mind. You may disagree with me but that’s okay. 😀
The MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment is also from the Curvy Christmas Stamp Set and has been die-cut with one of the dies from the Hippo & Friends Dies. Like the snowman I popped the sentiment up using Dimensionals. The DSP is from the ‘Tis the Season DSP. I started my card with a card base in Real Red CS then a middle layer in Basic Black CS and the top layer on the front of the card is DSP from ‘Tis the Season. Inside the card I’ve used a Red Red CS top layer. If I use this card as one of my Christmas cards, I’ll use a white gel pen to write my message.
The colours of Stampin’ Blends I used on my robins – as well as artistic licence! – are Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce, all dark colours. For the snowman I used Crumb Cake, Real Red and Old Olive and I used Real Red for the stars in the stamped “music”! I finished off my snowman by adding some Shaded Spruce Holiday Rhinestones on his coal “buttons”!

You’re very kind, Mal, many thanks. I’m able to eat Crunchie Bars and Bounty Bars. I’m also OK with Quality Street (assortment of chocolates and toffees), too. I’ll be fine, bless you. xx
What a lovely card Jan. Excellent. Be safe & TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. It’s a great bundle. I’m sorry the Christmas part will be leaving us soon but the rest of it we have through to the summer! xx
