Hello, Crafter.
Yesterday I finished off the other four cards I made the same as the card I shared yesterday. I still need more religious cards for my Church family so yesterday I designed an image and a sentiment from the Dove of Hope Stamp Set. Using all the same ingredients, I made six cards varying between portrait and landscape.
The only difference was that on some of the cards I used very narrow strips of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) – sometimes three strips, sometimes two and sometimes none! My colour choice for these cards was Pretty Peacock and for the top layer, I paired it with a Pretty Peacock design from the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I have numbered all the photographs so if you want to leave a comment referring to a particular card, it will be easy to identify the card being referred to! To colour the leaves of the branch the dove is holding in his beak, I used my Stampin’ Write Marker Pen in Just Jade. The colour blends beautifully with Pretty Peacock and shows up a shade lighter than the stamped outline.
The die I used for the Whisper White CS shape I stamped the sentiment on is from the Hippo & Friends Dies and is no. 2, i.e. the middle size. The PEACE ON EARTH sentiment and the dove are both from the Dove of Hope stamp set and the verse inside the card is from the For Unto Us Stamp Set. After I had finished all six cards, I decided the Whisper White CS labels looked incomplete! I decided to add some more branches and die-cut two of the small branch in the Detailed Dove Dies. After trying to arrange them in different positions I gave up because I don’t like leaves with holes in them!
I had a look through my other die sets and found a set of dies that had leaves that are almost identical but with complete leaves. The dies are called Forever Flourishing Dies and have a matching stamp set called Forever Fern. There are two dies for leaves leaning to the right and two dies for leaves leaning to the left! Ideal!
I die-cut six of each and it’s at times like this I really appreciate it when Stampin’ Up! put more than one die in the pack – for twelve leaves I only needed to crank the dies through the machine three times! As I was preparing the verse stamp and the dove stamp on my Stamparatus I told myself I needed three landscape and three portrait! Did I listen? No!! I have three spare portrait layers!
I went back and changed the stamps around and stamped three landscape verse/dove layers! Inside my card I added just one layer and I made it a top layer in Whisper White CS. To finish off the front of each card I added one small Basic Rhinestone Jewel on top of the berry on the branch the dove is holding in his beak.
Hopefully with the extra eleven cards I’ve made in the last two days, I should have enough cards for my Church family. I’m planning to get them written and posted out today so I know if I need to make more! Then I’ll be fully up to date as far as 2020 Christmas cards are concerned! How about you?
That’s it from me today! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
