To create today’s card I used the Sale-a-bration stamp set called A Touch of Ink and some of the fabulous Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP). The stamp set is a two-step stamp set but I decided to paint the images. I started with a top layer in Whisper White Cardstock (CS) set as landscape and stamped the flower image twice down the left hand side making sure I left a gap between them both. Then I stamped two more images in the gaps but not as far in.
Next I stamped the humming bird with his beak inside one of the flowers. I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour the images using: Light and Dark Purple Posy for the flowers, Dark Granny Apple Green for the leaves, Dark Daffodil Delight for the stamens, and for the bird Light and Dark Seaside Spray, Light Misty Moonlight, and Dark Highland Heather.
There was two much white space so I used Seaside Spray Ink, stamped off once with the spotty stamp and filled in all the empty space. I liked the way the decoration was going but decided I wanted to cut the image down to reduce the spotty area. I did this using the Stitched Rectangle Dies no. 5 of the regular sized dies. This allowed me to use the stripey Highland Heather design from the DSP.
I didn’t waste the offcut! I trimmed it down to an inch wide and adhered it onto a top Whisper White CS layer for the inside of my card. Next I adhered a very narrow strip of Highland Heather CS and trimmed off the overhang. I adhered this layer to a middle layer of Highland Heather CS and then inside a Whisper White CS card base! I stamped the THANK YOU SO MUCH sentiment from the stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. To build the front of my card, I adhered the image onto a layer of Highland Heather CS, and then adhered it onto a top layer of DSP. Next I adhered this to a middle layer of Highland Heather CS and then onto the card base.
To finish off my card, I painted the flowers – inside and outside the card – and the bird using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen. I used some of the gorgeous new Pastel Pearls from the new Mini catalogue in the bottom right-hand corner. A Touch of Ink really is a fabulous stamp set! That’s it from me today. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
