Hello, Crafters.
I think my recent cardmaking videos have been getting easier and easier! Today’s is exceptionally easy so I took advantage of the time and shared tips on making bows, demonstrated how to paint stamps for stamping images using multi-colours and how to use the bookbinding technique to make multi-paged wedding invitations.
Bookbinding greeting cards have become very popular recently and they bring back happy memories for me when I used to offer a wedding stationery service. Although I loved working with brides to find out what they liked, what they didn’t, colour schemes, etc., making the invites, in particular, was very time-consuming and it was impossible to work out a reasonable price to charge.
It was while I was going through this phase that I joined Stampin’ Up! I look back on those days fondly and I’m grateful that I had that opportunity. When I had finished showing how to make today’s card, I showed some samples I still had of wedding invitations and I spent a few minutes explaining how I added several pages, including a perforated page, into the invites.
During the video, I realised I hadn’t planned a decoration for the inside of my card! I thought I’d be able to stamp and die cut the smaller flower in the Always & Forever Stamp Set but I decided it would be too big. Then I thought I could use the stamp that is like a small bud with leaves and a stem – the size was brilliant plus it could be stamped straight on to the Whisper White Cardstock (CS) label inside the card.
It also gave me an opportunity to demonstrate how to paint stamps using Stampin Write Marker Pens in two or more colours. Although I didn’t make a mistake, I went through the process of showing how to remove colour if it goes somewhere it shouldn’t. I used one of our Blender Pens for this and then I also showed how to use a Blender Pen to colour in an image like this without adding any extra ink!
I recorded the video yesterday which was the first time during this third (pandemic) lockdown that I had to go back to wearing my false lockdown nails – boy did I struggle! Unfortunately, this lockdown is set to continue for a few weeks yet so I have to get used to them! Maybe I should try cutting them shorter because when Sharon does my nails, I always keep them fairly short!
Anyway, that’s about it from me today. I wish you a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to being back with you on Tuesday morning. Take care, stay safe and God bless.
JanB. xx
Beste wensen.
Nice card missed the measurements can you send them to me thank you
Many thanks, Pat. All the measurements are in the box below the video. To find the box you must be watching the video on YouTube and then it depends what device you’re watching on. If it’s a laptop or PC, under the video, at the bottom of three lines of writing you’ll see SHOW MORE. Click on it and the box will open. If you’re on a phone, you’ll see a down arrow on the right-hand side. Click on it. I hope this helps. xx
Jan…just saw this video….love the card. I’m also wonder where you get the product that you keep your dies in. I live in Ontario, Canada. I’m a Stampin’Up demo. Thank you. Stay safe.
Hi, Bonnie. The binders are made by Docrafts Papermania. Please check out my 10-minute video No. 273 Die Storage & Numbering https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2TQ0NakHYk&feature=youtu.be. The magnetic sheets that come in the plastic wallets are very floppy but I put a piece of cardboard on the back so I can stick one of each die-cut on it. I hope this helps. xx
Afternoon Jan. I agree a simple card but it is just gorgeous and one you can certainly upgrade with different DSP and embellishments. I appreciated your bow tying segment. I noticed that you used Stampin Blends when colouring the DSP sheet of flowers but Stampin Writer when applying colour direct to the stamp for inside the card. Did not know that there were other “pens” to use when colouring directly to an actual stamp. I have never seen the bookbinding technique before and know I can easily do this card thanks to you. Blessings and please do stay safe Jan and Othman. XXX M
Hi, Mal. Glad you like today’s project. You can only use the Stampin’ Write Markers for painting stamps because the Blends have alcohol ink which dries very quickly and huffing on it won’t re-moisten it, whereas our Marker Pens are made with water-based dye inks and do respond to huffing! xx
Morning Jan. Thank you for the marker information. Appreciated. XX Mal
Beautiful cards Jan.
Many thanks, Carmen. xx
What a Beautiful Card Jan, I really must case it today!
We have gone into a 5 Day lock-down here in Western Australia. Some idiot who is a security guard at an isolation hotel, has tested Positive to a COVID test. so the whole of Western Australia is in complete Lock-down. Why are people so stupid? I don’t understand.
Anyway, just going to start that card.
regards
Barbara Lowe
Stay safe Barbara from Mal in Melbourne zxxx m
Many thanks, Barbara. Enjoy! Your government moved amazingly quickly to stop a new outbreak didn’t they? I imagine that someone in the isolation hospital has Covid which is how the security guard caught it. I pray that the five-day lockdown is sufficient to stop a new outbreak in your area! Take great care and stay safe. xx
Love this card. Thank you so much for sharing.
For some reason, I cannot see the measurements you say are listed below the video. That would be so helpful. But no worry, I will just follow the video instructions. Thank you.
Many thanks, Heather. To see the box with the measurements you must be watching the video on YouTube and then it depends what device you’re watching on. If it’s a laptop or PC, under the video, at the bottom of three lines of writing you’ll see SHOW MORE. Click on it and the box will open. Hi, Jan! Thank you so much for sharing this technique. You are very talented and gifted. The wedding invitations at the end are fabulous. I’m new to paper crafting, so everything I do is new. Your instructions are excellent. I am looking for dimensions you mentioned but I am unable to find them.
Thanks, again, for sharing your expertise.
Kathleen
