Hello, Crafters.
I’m so loving the colours and designs in the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP). The colours are very similar, maybe even the same as those in the Christmas Snowflake Splendour DSP. I love seeing Highland Heather, Purple Posy and Seaside Spray together and when Gorgeous Grape is added to the mix it’s just WOW!
When I first started working on today’s card, my plan was nothing like the card I’m sharing! I’ll save my original idea for another day! I’m not sure where the idea for today’s card came from but I wondered if I could do the letters in different colours, and if I could, how difficult would it be. As it turned out it wasn’t difficult and I have enough leftovers to make another four cards. I started with five pieces of cardstock that all measure the same as a regular top layer. I’m not giving measurements for today’s card because I had to trim bits here and there to make each element to fit properly and I think you’ll find it easier to work around your top layer with the word happy.
Once I had my five layers, I measured 4″ up from the bottom and made a pencil mark on both sides so I could lay the HAPPY die in a straight line when I ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine. When I had finished I did wonder if I could have used just three layers, i.e. one in each colour. Working on one letter at a time I used my Grid Paper to see the best position to cut between each pair of letters. I made a pencil mark top and bottom and then cut using my trimmer. The only thing I would change is the width of each letter so they filled the complete width of a regular top layer. I think it’s doable but I’m not sure how……at the moment!
I cut 1/8″ off the bottom of each strip and then adhered them on a top layer of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock (CS) but it fell short of the full width so I cut the top layer down to make it slimmer. I could have left the strips uncovered, and I was tempted to, but I stuck to my plan which was to add a piece of DSP top and bottom. Next I used the Playful Alphabet dies to die-cut BIRTHDAY and also some of the small flowers from the Hydrangea Dies. I was disappointed the letters were too wide to fit across my card front but it did save me the agony of trying to get them straight! LOL! I finished them off by painting them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. I also glued eight flowers randomly around the letters and the top section and finished off by adding a small pearl in the centre of each.
Inside the card I added a middle layer of Purple Posy CS onto the Gorgeous Grape CS card base and then I added a top layer of DSP. I stamped in the bottom left- and right -hand corners as I did on yesterday’s card. I don’t normally stamp my envelopes but I could see how pretty an envelope would look when stamped in all four corners on the front of the envelope! See it in some of the photographs.
Yesterday I finished getting all my figures together for my accountant. Linda does my Tax Return for me an last year’s Return needs to be in by 31.01.21! Today I’ll start playing catch up with all the jobs I should have been doing. No, I’m not complaining. I much prefer to be busy rather than sitting twiddling my fingers what to do next! LOL! I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take very good care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Very pretty – another great creation with these beautiful colors. The “wonky” arrangement of birthday is perfect – like the random arrangement of blossom petals. Love it! Can’t wait for my set to arrive!
Many thanks, Billie. It was lovely making something deliberately crooked! LOL! xx
Love all your cards but I live in New Zealand other wise I would buy some of your products
Many thanks, Glynnis. Stampin’ Up! are in NZ so you can buy their products, but as you say, unfortunately not from me! xx
