Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I finished getting my customers’ December and January Happy Mail packaged and posted with the exception of my EU customers. Those I’m going to take to the Post Office and find out what the new regulations are now that we’ve left the EU! Hubby downloaded the Customs Form that needs to be completed and adhered to the package before posting but we want to double-check we’ve done it correctly.
Today’s card is my first Easter card for 2021. I assume we all celebrate Easter at the same time which this year is Sunday 4th April 2021. This leaves me a few weeks to make some more Easter cards. I decided to go through my stamp sets and pick out those that I thought would work well for Easter – I found eight! I decided to use the Gift of Hope Stamp Set first because it’s a new stamp set and I haven’t had a play with it yet. The actual layout of the images just sprung out at me and could be how the artist envisaged them as well. I used my Stamparatus to set up the stamps and I stamped on a scrap sheet to make sure all the images and sentiment fitted together well.
I hadn’t planned to use the EASTER BLESSINGS sentiment which is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. The gap between the base of the floral image and the bottom edge of top layer was too big to be left as it was but too small for a large sentiment. I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink for all the stamping although I did think it was going to look too dark for the Church. At first the Church did look very dark and somewhat over-powering so I coloured it using the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend which was all that was needed to soften the look. I also used the following Blends for the floral image: Dark Highland Heather, Light Granny Apple Green and Dark Daffodil Delight.
I laid the top layer on a middle layer of Highland Heather Cardstock (CS) and then rested it onto a Whisper White CS card base. The top layer didn’t look complete and I toyed with using a spotty stamp to stamp randomly over the card front. I didn’t think that would work very well and then I thought about an embossing folder but I thought that might make the bible verse disappear: HE IS NOT HERE, FOR HE HAS RISEN. Matthew 28:6.
Then I thought about the Detailed Trio Punch I’d been using on another project I’d been working on earlier this week. After punching the decorative “flower” in each of the four corners, I went round again and punched with the corner rounder. When I laid the layer back on the Highland Heather CS middle layer it was WOW! What a difference! I adhered the two layers together and then on to the card front. For the inside of the card I took a top layer of Whisper White and a middle layer of Highland Heather CS. Before I adhered the layers together, I punched the corners of the top layer the same as I had on the front of the card.
I wasn’t sure about adding any more decoration but I had a piece of Whisper White CS that was my first attempt at stamping my layout! It wasn’t used because I didn’t like how the bible verse had turned out, i.e. the black ink on some of the outer letters was too thick and very black but I did decide to fussy cut the Church! After I’d painted the Church with my Light Crumb Cake Blend I decided to adhere it in the centre along the bottom edge inside the card! I’m very pleased with this card – inside and out. My final touches was to paint both Churches using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. On the front of the card I also added a Pastel Pearl on each of the four punched holes.
Definitely a very pleasing card! I never send Easter cards, do you? In fact, last year we received our first Easter card ever! That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting!
JanB. xx

Very effective design. Last year I SENT my first Easter card – you have me thinking of it again. Thanks!
Many thanks, Billie. Maybe I should send an Easter card to the delightful elderly lady who sent us our first Easter cards last year! xx
Very beautiful, and just right. Thank you, Jan.
Many thanks, Kimy. xx
Morning Jan. This card, besides being your usual elegant plus style, gives so much Hope in light of these current times. I do like the rounded corners; they soften an already soft and elegant card. (I do send Easter cards and have done so since living here in Australia). Blessings: Mal and Gang.
Many thanks, Mal. I don’t normally like rounded corners but I do agree they definitely soften corners. xx
