Hello, Crafters.
As hoped, my order that was due to be delivered this coming Monday arrived yesterday! This order included my Hostess Code order for my January online customers’ thank you gifts! Also in this parcel was a Mini Cut & Emboss Machine – it is so cute! I have one more order that I’m waiting for and that’s due to be delivered on Tuesday. This order was placed on 3rd February so deliveries are definitely getting better; at last! It’s been a very long six weeks but I’m glad to say my glass is half full again!
Today’s card is the first Valentine card I’ve made this year! I decided to pull out the Always In My Heart and the Heartfelt Stamp Sets. I had already decided that I’d create a lacy background using the gorgeous Stitched Lace Die. I wanted to make sure the lace design was even so I started with a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) that was bigger than the actual die. I placed the cardstock on the top cutting mat and then laid the die on top and cranked it through my Cut & Emboss (C&E) Machine. It’s dies like this that make the C&E really come into its own. After I had cranked the die through once I turned the die and cardstock slightly and cranked it through again.
I placed the die with the cardstock still attached, face down on my sponge mat and ran my die brush – this is an attachment to the Take Your Pick Tool – and ran it over the die holes a few time to push out the die cut debris. The C&E had made the die cut through the cardstock perfectly. To cut the lacy die-cut to size I took a top layer of Real Red CS and placed it on top of the die cut gradually manoeuvring it into position so the two opposite edges top and bottom were the same. When I was happy the position was correct I drew a pencil line all around and then used my trimmer to cut off the four sides. I put the top layer of Real Red CS away and picked out a middle layer instead and glued the two together using Tombow. I made sure the lacy layer was in the middle of the middle Real Red CS layer so there was a narrow Real Red gap all around the edge.
I didn’t have any plans to wrap any ribbon around my card so I adhered the layers to a Whisper White CS card base. The first image I stamped, I used Real Red Ink and my Stamparatus and used the larger frilly lace heart in the Heartfelt Stamp Set and then I punched it out using the matching scalloped Heart Punch.
I had a look at the other stamps in the set to see what sentiment I wanted to use and decided I’d like to use the sentiment in the heart so stamped one using Real Red Ink as before! I punched it out using the matching straight cut Heart Punch and when I looked at it I wondered if I cut off the white edging left by the punch would this heart fit on top of the scalloped stamped heart I did first. After I had trimmed off the white edging I found it fit beautifully on top of the first heart! I loved this idea because it meant I wouldn’t have to have a sentiment as an extra on my card front.
When I was checking out the sentiments I had noticed the arrow stamp so I lined it up on my Stamparatus and stamped it onto a scrap of Whisper White CS using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink! It was an effort fussy cutting the arrow because it was so narrow. I toyed with the idea of cutting a thin strip of Basic Black CS for the shaft (?) of the arrow and just add the top and bottom. I decided against this idea because it would make both ends of the arrow look like a dark grey! I added the heart and the arrow to the card front using Dimensionals.
Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Real Red CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I decorated the lower part of the top layer using the small heart stamp and stamped it randomly using Real Red Ink. Considering this is quite a simple card, it’s taken a lot of explaining! LOL! It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow so that’s the only Valentine card I’ll be making this year!
Well, that’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow with my Sunday video. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Evening Jan. Oh that card is just so elegant. So you. We are in lockdown again here in Victoria, so making a few easter treat boxes and dehydrating some chicken and goat hearts and livers to put into the boxes for the fur kids. Hope I don’t get the treat boxes mixed up and give animal ones to humans!!!!! Blessings and Stay Safe. Blue Mountains are not in lockdown. XXX M
He!He!He! So sorry you’re in lockdown again Mal, but hopefully it’ll only be for a short time. You’re government do seem to re-act very quickly when things start going in the wrong direction! Take care. xxxx
