Hello, Crafters.
I have another Easter card today but I also think this would make a good sympathy card. I started by using my Stamparatus to stamp three carnations in a row by moving the plate along one notch after stamping each image. The Stampin’ Blend colours I used for the images are Light and Dark Rococo Rose and Dark Granny Apple Green. The piece of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) that I had stamped my images on was an obscure size. I felt the only way I was going to be able to use them was to fussy cut them!
This wasn’t part of my original plan but I couldn’t think how else I was going to use them! When I had finished fussy cutting I played around with several different arrangements but none of them floated my boat! Eventually I decided to use one carnation and put it into a “frame”. Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies regular sizes 2 and 3, I die-cut five Whisper White CS frames and adhered them altogether. I kept one inside piece to adhere the carnation to and then used size no. 4 die to die-cut a Rococo Rose CS base for my frame.
I found the Whisper White CS that had been dry embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder in my scraps box. After I cut the top to the regular top layer size, I turned it round to cut the length to find it was half an inch too short for my regular size. Things were really not going according to plan! I turned the cardstock back round and cut half an inch off the correct side, too! Fortunately, this new size fitted well with the Rococo Rose CS frame layer.
I used the EASTER BLESSINGS sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set because it’s so narrow. I wanted to adhere it to the bottom of the frame as if it was a painting hanging in a gallery with its name on the bottom edge. This also allowed me to put it in the centre of the card front. I added an Olive Green bow onto the carnation stem. The ribbon is part of the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack. The other ribbon in the combo is the same design but is Terracotta Tile. This ribbon is amazingly soft and very easy to tie into a bow.
Finally, I painted the flowerhead and leaves using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Rococo Rose CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I would have preferred to have cut the top layer down to match the size on the card front! DOH!! To add some decoration, I adhered one of the two remaining carnations in the bottom right-hand corner. I finished it off by painting the flowerhead and the leaves with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
I’m happy with my finished card although I’m never totally happy when a card doesn’t go according to plan! Hey ho!! That’s it from me today and I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Evening Jan. This card is such a Jan Card – elegant and simple but oh so stunning. I don’t have this stamp set but was gifted a floral stamp set by Hero Arts which will substitute beautifully as I refused to charge an ex-client for putting down their 28 year old horse. A question – how do you clean your bone folder, please – dishwasher perhaps. Mine is so sticky. XXX M
Many thanks, Mal. Yes any single flower stamp will work. Here in the UK we have a product called Sticky Stuff Remover – original name, eh? LOL! – and it’s brilliant. I pour a little bit onto a piece of kitchen toll and clean off anything sticky! It works on almost everything in my studio e.g. trimmer, stamp boxes, desk, etc. It’s great on cleaning scissor blades but be very careful! when I was doing this a couple of weeks ago, my hand slipped and went straight into my hand. It only made a small hole but it allowed a lot of blood to escape! 😨 We also keep a bottle in the kitchen. It cleans off sticky residue when you remove labels off new china, crockery, food boxes, etc. xxx
Morning Jan. Thank you for that information. I will go to our local hardware shop and see what they can suggest. Hopefully they have your product available. I appreciate your help. XX M
This is so very pretty! It answers my need for an flowery Easter card! Thank you for the inspiration!
Many thanks, Billie. I’m glad you like this one for Easter as well. xx
