Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card was inspired by a card I saw on Facebook made by Katherine Anderson. She had made a card using the Seaside Shells stickers (page 41 Mini Catalogue 154290) using the three diamonds idea. Apart from having a totally different theme, Katherine had put the middle diamond in the centre so it overlapped the two end diamonds.
I chose to use the small floral stamp in the Lots of Heart Stamp Set. Using my Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped four separate images on scraps of Whisper White Cardstock (CS). Purple Posy is another of the 2019 – 2021 InColours that will be retiring at the beginning of May, so I’m trying to use up my cardstock. This isn’t any kind of a hardship because I love the combination of our purple colours especially when partnered with the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP). I coloured the flowers using the Light and Dark Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, alternating the three colours on each image.
For the leaves I used the Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend and the centre of the flowers have been painted using the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend. I die-cut the image using the Layering Squares Dies, no 2 straight cut die. The Highland Heather layer is one of the designs from the DSP. It has a design of flowers on it in Purple Posy so it isn’t easy to see in such a small area. I used the Stitched Shapes Dies square no 2 die. For my card base I chose to use Purple Posy for the card base. Onto this I added a middle layer of Whisper White CS and then two strips of co-ordinating DSP that were 1 7/8″ which added together to make the same width of a regular top layer.
When it came to adding the diamonds, I decided to adhere them directly onto my card front. The first diamond adhered was the left-hand side one and I adhered the the two outermost points on the join line between the two different designs of DSP. Next I put glue on half of the third diamond and lined both sides of it on the join line. After putting glue all over the back of the middle diamond, I lifted the third diamond and was able to line the middle diamond up using the first and third images as a guide! I chose the sentiment HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the Posted To You Stamp Set and stamped it by hand using Gorgeous Grape Ink and a scrap of Whisper White CS.
To die-cut the sentiment I used the Messages Die which matches the Many Messages Stamp Set. The stamp is one but has many sentiments that can be die-cut in one go using the single die! The idea behind this set is that you can stamp a multitude of sentiments in one go and then die-cut them in one go to keep a supply of sentiments always ready. (I haven’t tried this yet but I will do!) When I “processed” my die for filing, I took a piece of retired pink cardstock and die-cut all the shapes. Then I adhered them to the back of my magnetic sheet. Using the negative from the die cut, I was able to adhere all the shapes back in their correct positions. I also keep my negative sheet in the folder as well because I can use it to see if any label fits any stamped sentiment! Please see last photographs.
For my sentiment I used the long die second from the bottom in the photograph and trimmed it off to the correct size. After measuring the sentiment I cut a layer using the same DSP. After I had adhered the sentiment in place I added five Basic Pearl Jewels I had coloured using my Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blend. To decorate inside the card, I fussy cut the fourth image. There is a die for it but I enjoy fussy cutting!
