Hello, Crafters.
I wanted to make a card using the gorgeous large “lacy” die in the Potted Succulents Dies. Unfortunately, the size is wrong for my regular sized A6 cards plus my layers. It’s such a shame Stampin’ Up! aren’t able to offer products like this is two sizes, i.e. one for NA sized cardstock and one for A4 cardstock. I decided the next best thing would be to cut the die-cut down which has worked brilliantly! I love the result!
When I had finished cutting off the pieces I didn’t need, I photocopied it with the “tabs” still on it so next time I use this die, it’ll be so much easier to decide which bits need to be removed. (Please see the last photograph). I had decided to use a card base in Blackberry Bliss Cardstock (CS), with a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the plain Blackberry Bliss design.
The Oh So Ombre DSP is available as a gift for a qualifying order during Sale-a-bration (SAB) and has sheets in four colours and two designs. I’ve used the design I call plain and the other design has white “bubbles” on it. The other three colours are Granny Apple Green, Rococo Rose and Bermuda Bay. The bubble design has the colour fading in the same was as it does on the plain design. It’s a great pack of DSP!
After I had put my card and two layers together, I adhered my “lacy” die card in a central position on the DSP top layer – I decided there wasn’t a right or wrong way! While I was using the large die, I also die-cut three of the succulent leaves using Granny Apple Green CS. Using Blackberry Bliss Ink I stamped THANKS from the matching Simply Succulents Stamp Set as well as three of the small flowers.
After I had painted the flowers using the Light Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend, I fussy-cut them. There is a die for these flowers but I didn’t want the white edging around the flowers. I used the small stitched rectangle die for the word THANKS positioning the word near the bottom so I could put the flowers along the top near the leaves. Using a scrap of Blackberry Bliss CS, I die-cut a larger Stitched Rectangle.
I adhered the sentiment on the card front using Dimensionals and then adhered two flowers in place. Next I used Tombow to adhere two branches of leaves on the left-hand side and one branch on the right-hand side. The leaves looked rather flat so I painted them using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen, which made them pop, and then I painted the flowers as well.

I have positioned the die face down and in the same position as the photocopy. That is, if you could slide the die over2, keeping it in the same position, it will fit the design of the photocopy perfectly. Start by looking at the two long leaves at the bottom slightly towards the right.
I also added five Artistry Bloom Rich Razzleberry Sequins randomly around the front of the card. In my ribbon drawer I found a roll of retired Blackberry Bliss Solid Baker’s Twine. I made a small bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot as well as a small dot of Tombow onto the sentiment. Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Whisper White CS and decorated it by glueing the third flower in the bottom right-hand corner.
That’s about it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
