Hello, Crafters.
Now that both my workshop orders have arrived safely, I spent most of my day yesterday sorting out my customers’ December and January Happy Mail. I was a bit concerned that it would be easy for me to make a mistake. While I was clearing my desk completely, I had a fabulous lightbulb moment and I knew exactly how I was going to do it. My idea worked brilliantly; it was a breeze! I wasn’t able to complete everything yesterday but I know it will all be in the post today!
Yesterday I decided to have my first play with the Snailed It Stamp Set. I don’t know if I chose this because my day was spent organising my Happy Mail but I’m very pleased with the result. I don’t normally like “goofy” images but at least the snail does have his eyes open so no complaints there! LOL! I decided to use regular colours for the images and I’m pleased with the result. My Stamparatus helped with stamping the images on Whisper White Cardstock (CS) using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
I have a supply of Whisper White CS so it’ll be a little while before I switch over the Basic White CS. I will buy one packet so I can get to know the product and answer any questions I may be asked. To colour my images I used my Stampin’ Blends as follows: snail – Light & Dark Crumb Cake, envelope on snail’s shell – Light Granny Apple Green and Dark Real Red, grass – Dark Granny Apple Green and shading – Light Pool Party; toadstools – Dark Real Red, Light & Dark Crumb Cake, leaves and grass – Dark Granny Apple Green, shading – Light Pool Party; sentiment – shading Light Pool Party.
I used my Layering Squares Dies to cut the three sentiments and images using straight cut dies and layered them onto scalloped squares also die-cut with the scalloped dies in the same set. I put my card together starting with a card base of Granny Apple Green CS, a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of the bubble design in Granny Apple Green from the Oh So Ombre 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. This DSP will only be available until 28th February 2021 because it is a Sale-a-bration (SAB) gift you can choose for a qualifying order before SAB ends on 28th February 2021
Inside the card I added a top layer of the plain Granny Apple Green design from the DSP pack onto a middle layer of Whisper White CS. Do you remember punch art? The toadstool I’ve adhered in the bottom right hand corner is die art! I die-cut three toadstools – one each in Real Red CS, Crumb Cake CS and Whisper White CS.
I took a small Whisper White CS square and adhered the toadstool stalk and discarded the rest. Next I adhered the Real Red CS strip that had separated the cap and the bottom on top of the stalk, and then I adhered the cap after I had cut off the red stalk. It was a little bit fiddly replacing the white spots but I did it. I could have omitted this step because I was adhering the die art onto a piece of Whisper White CS but I decided I didn’t want to have the dip!
Once all the pieces were in place, I fussy cut the die art toadstool but I kept my scissors at an angle under the toadstool so I was actually cutting off most of the Whisper White CS square I had adhered the toadstool onto. I finished the toadstool off by rounding the join between the red cap and the Crumb Cake stalk. Will you have a go at this die art? I’m really pleased with the result. By the way, the sentiment HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the By The Dock Stamp Set! I also decorated the front of the card by adhering some red and white Resin Heart Embellishments.
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe! Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
