Hello, Crafters.
Today Boris Johnson laid out his roadmap for our exit from lockdown. If everything goes according to plan we should be free of all restrictions by 21st June 2021! That’s just in time for our planned Christmas in July celebrations! Our biggest success is the amazing roll-out of Covid-19 vaccinations – 17.5million UK residents have been vaccinated! The second vaccine dose has also started to be rolled out, too! And I’ve booked my next two appointments with Sharon (manicurist)! She’s opening on 13th April 2021 and my first appointment is on the 14th!! Happy days!
Here in the UK, Mothering Sunday – more commonly called Mother’s Day – is on 14th March this year. The date is always on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is exactly three weeks before Easter. This is why we celebrate Mother’s Day on a different date each year. I’m explaining this because when I decided to make a card using the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set, I came up with a design that would be suitable for Mother’s Day and also as an Easter Card. In reality today’s card could be used for any occasion with a change of sentiment.
I started by stamping four stems and four leaves using Granny Apple Green Ink and four tulips using Highland Heather Ink. Then I fussy cut all the pieces which I found amazingly easy! There is a matching punch for this stamp set but it punches the largest tulip and just one of the leaves. The tulip I stamped is the middle size. The reason I wanted to fussy cut the images was because I didn’t feel like using the masking technique yesterday. By die-cutting the images I wanted to use, it was so easy laying them on top of each other to find the layout I liked best! Before I adhered my pieces on my top Whisper White Cardstock (CS) layer, I adhered a 2 1/8″ wide strip of Highland Heather CS down the left-hand side and adhered a 2″ strip of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP) on top.
Next I started adhering the stems, leaves and tulip heads in position. I decided to use Dimensionals for the flower heads but adhered the stems and leaves directly onto the Whisper White CS. When everything was in place, I adhered the layer onto a middle layer of Highland Heather CS and then onto a Gorgeous Grape CS card base. I stamped the sentiment EASTER BLESSINGS, from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, using Granny Apple Green Ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch. Rather than adhering across the centre of the top layer, I trimmed off the left-hand side end piece so the sentiment would sit nicely following on from the DSP panel.
Inside the card I added a top layer of Whisper White CS which I had stamped a short Granny Apple Green stem in the bottom right-hand corner. I adhered this layer to a middle layer of Highland Heather CS and then adhered it to the card base. Using Tombow I adhered the leaf and tulip head in position and painted them both, plus the stem, using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. To finish the front of the card I painted the flowers, leaves and stem as before and also adhered some retired Glitter Dots I found languishing in my stash. That’s it from me today but before I go, just a quick reminder there are only FIVE days left to get any of the Sale-a-bration gifts for a qualifying order!
I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Many thanks, Billie. I bought this when it was first brought out and it has been a very versatile stamp set. xx
