Yesterday I received my copy of the new Annual Catalogue and spent most of the day marking my stamp sets, punches and dies that will be retiring. I also had a look at other products that would be retiring so I can use them before it’s too late. I came across some remaining pieces I have from the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper.
I decided to use one of two card fronts together with most of the die-cut dragonflies to create two thank you cards. After cutting two Whisper White Cardstock (CS) top layers, I attached the laser-cut card front with Washi Tape to in the centre of one of the top layers. The design of the card front is solid and filigree dragonflies. I used one of our fabulous new Blender Brushes and Pretty Peacock Ink to blend the ink all over the card top layer.
When blended, Pretty Peacock looks very much like Pool Party! I wasn’t expecting this but I was really pleased because it meant I could colour the die-cut dragonflies with the Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend to make them very prominent. Once I had finished blending, I carefully removed the Washi Tape on one corner and blended the area that had been concealed by the Washi Tape. Once I had finished the first corner, I did the same to the second corner and gradually worked my way round to all four corners taking great care not to allow the card front to move.
If you look at the corners closely, the lines are still visible, more so in the bottom two corners, but I don’t think it’s so obvious that it spoils the look of the card. By the time I had done this, I had two pieces to use as top layers to create two cards. I’ll start with the laser-cut layer! I adhered it in place on a top layer of Whisper White CS and decided to use two identical dragonflies to highlight two on the card front.
I used the Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend back and front, and then I painted the back and front using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen and adhered them on top of matching dragonflies on the laser-cut card front. The die-cut Pretty Peacock CS THANKS is from the Well Written Dies – which will be retiring on 3rd May 2021. Before I adhered the sentiment I painted it with my Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. My final touch was adding Pool Party Rhinestones from the Holiday Gems on all the “blended” dragonflies and two green rhinestones also from the Holiday Gems on the Dark Pretty Peacock dragonflies.
I adhered this top layer onto a Pretty Peacock CS middle layer and then onto a Whisper White CS card base. Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Pretty Peacock and then a top copy of Whisper White CS. Next I started working on the blended card front. I didn’t have anymore of the “straight” dragonflies, so I painted four of the “side view” dragonflies first of all with the Dark Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend on both sides and then I painted them all with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
I adhered one dragonfly on each side of the blended card front and I also added a die-cut THANKS created in the same way as the first card. The blended top layer was then adhered to a middle Whisper White CS layer and then onto a Pretty Peacock CS card base. Inside this card I added a middle layer of Whisper White CS and then a top layer of Pool Party CS. To decorate the inside of both cards, I adhered the two remaining “side view” dragonflies.
It’s amazing how different these two cards look considering they both used the same laser-cut dragonfly card front to start with! I’m very happy with how both these cards have turned out! Which card do you prefer? Hubby prefers the one with the Whisper White CS card base. That’s it from me today. I look forward to being with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
