Hello, Crafters.
Do you remember on Mothering Sunday – 14th March 2021 – hubby made the most amazing gluten-free cinnamon doughnuts? I told you he was planning to make a GF Lemon Drizzle Cake this Sunday which he did and it was probably the best Lemon Drizzle Cake I have ever eaten! It was soft and spongy and was so easy to eat with a small pastry fork. It didn’t crumble when the fork went in! It held together. It was amazing! If you need to cook gluten-free cakes, if you subscribe to Gluten-free Blogger for her weekly newsletter she will send you a free eBook of gluten free recipes. If you’re interested, this is her link: https://www.theglutenfreeblogger.com/. I’m not on commission or any kind of payback for recommending Sarah Howell but being gluten free myself, I know how difficult it is to find fabulous GF cakes!
On occasions, I have used off-cuts from the edge of my Designer Series Paper (DSP) to decorate the inside of my cards. Somebody recently created a card front made completely with these fussy cut DSP edges and it has been very popular with a lot of demonstrators so I decided to make one and share it with you. Everybody is using the True Love DSP and painting the flowers red and green – sorry I should say, all the cards I’ve seen have red and green flowers! I painted and fussy cut three images for the front of my card. The single flower with a leaf on the top left-hand side was part of the single flower with three leaves in the bottom right-hand corner but it was too large and fitted beautifully when I separated the two flowers.
To colour the flowers and leaves I used the Light & Dark Old Olive and the Light & Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. I adhered the flowers onto a top layer of Whisper White Cardstock (CS) which I embossed using the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. This left a large gap in the centre that I filled using the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the You Are Amazing Stamp Set.
I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White CS using Gorgeous Grape Ink and die-cut it using a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies. I also die-cut a piece of Gorgeous Grape CS and adhered it behind the sentiment slightly off-set to the top left-hand side. Without the layer, the sentiment almost disappeared into the Whisper White CS background!
To decorate the front of my card I painted five large Basic Rhinestone Jewels using the Dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blend, and then adhered one in the centre of each flower. I also folded a small bow using the Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon and used Tombow to adhere it in place at the base of the sentiment.
To decorate the inside of the card, like the front of the card, I added a middle layer of Gorgeous Grape CS and a top layer of Whisper White CS. I had fussy cut four edge pieces from my DSP so I could have one to adhere inside my card. If you don’t like fussy cutting, choose a flower and leaf stamp and stamp in random positions to mimic my layout or something similar.
For those of us who are happy to fussy cut, it’s a great way to make the most of our DSP. If you decide to create this card by stamping because you’re not into fussy cutting, or you don’t have any DSP you think is suitable, you can choose to stamp on plain cardstock and dry emboss after you have finished colouring or just leave out the dry-embossing. It’s definitely a matter of choice.
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Oh love this card Jan, love that embossed paper too. I must get some more plain folders. Love the colours on the flowers.
I have got to say that hubby’s cake looks absolutely gorgous…I am not gluten free but don’t mind the cakes at all. My ex boss was and did some amazing food.
Have a great Tuesday and you both stay safe xx
Many thanks, Helen. You have probably noticed I love purples/mauves. I’m very blessed that hubby loves cooking! It’s been so long since I’ve done any cooking, I’ve forgotten how to boil an egg! LOL!! xxx
Ah you are truly blessed, I don’t like cooking and until Adrian took bad he did it all.
Yes purples are wonderful and so many colours work with them.
Enjoy your day xx
Yes, that’s for sure, Helen. I’m sorry your hubby(?) isn’t well. xxx
Yes hubby, he has MS and disabled so I am his 24/7 carer and that’s how I got into stamping etc to escape and have me time and love it.
My parcel of goodies has just arrived yayy so thrilled. Playing with the label me fancy punch right now and it is brilliant xx
Hi, Helen. It’s amazing how many people get into crafting because of health issues; either their own or a family member. The good thing about crafting is that it can be picked up and put down quickly and easily, not that we like to be interrupted, but if we’re needed we’re there! I started crafting when I was put on a three-day week about 13 – 14 years ago!xxx
Another GREAT idea which conserves by using the edges. Can’t wait to try some… Thanks
Many thanks, Billie. Absolutely – waste not, want not! xx
I love everything about this card. Flowers, colors, and all the rest. Nice job…I will try this one. TY
Gloria
Many thanks, Gloria. Enjoy. xx
Morning Jan. Just a wonderful card and despite loving red, I would have chosen a softer colour as you have. I too am GF and Lactose free (have been for my entire life), so will look into your link (not that I eat many cakes). Stay Safe. XX Mal and Gang.
Many thanks, Mal. Lactose-free must be tough. What “milk” do you have? Othman was recently diagnosed with having a very high intolerance to cow’s milk! We’re using soya milk and coconut (milk) drink (this is gorgeous in my breakfast cereal) but I still have cow’s milk for my tea! Love to you and the Gang. xx
Morning Jan and Othman. Sorry to hear Othman that you have an intolerance to cow’s milk. Here in Australia, we can purchase from our supermarket a product called Liddells Lactose Free Milk. I use the 99.9% no fat version. It comes in Long Life form and I just love love love it. I drink about 3/4 a litre daily. There is also another lactose free brand, Zymil in the fresh milk area but it only comes in full fat which I find distasteful.
Jan, there is also available via your pharmacy/chemist a product (a drop) called Lactade, which you add to your milk and it ASSISTS in making the milk more digestable. When Othman had his blood test for lactose intolerance, they should have given him some pamphlets on what is avaialble and what is acceptable. Keep me posted on how it goes and if necessary, I can always get the Lactade from my chemist and post it over for Othman to trial.
I cant eat soya anything which makes being GF even harder.
Sending Healing Energy to you both.

Your gang is growing big time, Mal!! Life must be incredibly difficult given your allergies/intolerences. I know we get used to new eating regimes but they get “easy”! Unfortunately it isn’t the lactose he’s intolerant to but the complete milk. The plan is that if he takes certain foods out of his diet for three months he may be able to slowly re-introduce them. The cow’s milk isn’t to bad but giving up yeast is the toughy! He has to give up everything that’s fungus e.g. mushrooms. I’m very interested in the Lactade in case he ends up lactose intolerant. I will also mention it to the Nutritional Therapist. Best wishes to all the Gang!! xxx
Morning Jan. Have quite a few rescues (30 – two truckloads) with me from New South Wales for the time being – about a year I am suspecting. Wise move to see a Nutritional Therapist and to do the elimination “diet”. I don’t eat any deadly night shade vegetables nor mushrooms. Eating GF is so much easier now than 70 years ago. Healing Energy being sent to you both and Guiding Advice to your Nutritionist. XX M
My goodness, Mal. You must be on the go all the time with that little lot! I’ve never heard of “deadly night shade vegetables” – I assume this is like potatoes, is it? GF is much easier now than twenty years ago……………and that was bad enough! I can’t imagine what it must have been like 70 years ago! xx
Morning Jan. You are correct regarding deadly night shade vegetables. If I can, I will paste the popular vegies but there are heaps more. I start early (around 5am) and finish around 6pm but thankfully I have a refugee family staying with me for another 5 years and they pitch in enormously. XXX M
Some species are toxic, including the belladonna plant, which is also called deadly nightshade.
…
Common nightshade vegetables that we eat include:
white potatoes.
tomatoes.
eggplant.
bell peppers.
cayenne pepper.
paprika
Goji berries.
Blueberries.
Oh dear! That’s bad news about tomatoes………………..I love them!! Look after your gang must keep you amazingly fit, Mal! xx
