Hello, Crafters.
I hope you had a very blessed Easter. We had to change our plans about visiting our family yesterday and moved it to Sunday afternoon. Vicki had checked the weather forecast and saw sleet was due on Monday! As we are still under lockdown we are allowed to visit one household, and it has to be in the garden. We are so pleased we made the change because the weather on Sunday was sunny and a bit chilly and yesterday was quite sunny but freezing cold. I’m not sure what happened to the sleet because it didn’t arrive in our part of the world
Just for once, when I had made today’s card, I liked all the white space; I felt it makes my card look clean and quite simple. I say quite simple because it took me three attempts to colour the image to my satisfaction! The drawing of the image is sketchy and most the flowers, leaves and stems are very small and/or narrow.
For my final attempt, I gave up trying to colour any of the stems and for most of the small flowers, I coloured the “area” of the flower without trying to stay in the lines. If you have a look at the photograph which shows the sentiment you’ll see what I mean. I coloured the three largest flowers correctly and most of the leaves but everything else has been coloured in a more relaxed way!
I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour the image as follows: leaves Light Mossy Meadow, three largest flowers Light and Dark Rococo Rose, the small pale flowers on the stems in the centre Light Flirty Flamingo, dark pink flowers on outside of image on both sides Dark Rococo Rose, three purple flowers Dark Highland Heather, fourth largest flower Dark Flirty Flamingo, dragonfly body Smokey Slate, and wings Dark Flirty Flamingo and Dark Rococo Rose.
After I had punched the dragonfly out using the Dragonflies Punch, I punched out another one using Whisper White Cardstock (CS) and adhered it on the back of the coloured dragonfly to cover up where the colour had bled through the cardstock. I adhered the dragonfly to the top Whisper White layer using Tombow along his body with his wings folded upwards. Then I adhered two small pieces of Dimensionals under his wings to make them stay pointing upwards. I chose the sentiment WISHING YOU ALL THINGS FABULOUS which is from the All Things Fabulous Stamp Set – it’s being carried forward into the new Annual Catalogue.
Using Smokey Slate Ink and my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment on a thin strip of Whisper White CS which I then layered onto a strip of Rococo Rose CS. I adhered the top layer to a middle layer of Rococo Rose CS and then onto a Whisper White card base. To finish off the front of my card, I painted the dragonfly wings and all the flowers, using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
Inside the card I adhered a top layer of Whisper White CS, then a middle layer of Rococo Rose CS and then onto the card base. I stamped the image of the six dragonflies in the bottom right-hand corner and then coloured them with Light Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blend. They were finished off with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
Do you recognise today’s second card? It’s the card I shared with you last Saturday, i.e. the Vine Design Birthday Card. I kept looking at the card and decided I didn’t like it all-white so I decided to adhere the Highland Heather CS die-cut I saved when I had die-cut all the bits I needed to use as infills!
There is more depth to it because of the additional layer and I had to paint the infilled Highland Heather CS bits with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to make the infills a tad darker. It wasn’t until I’d finished photographing my card, I realised I’d covered up the three yellow dots I’d used my Label Me Fancy Punch for! I’ll correct that this morning! But which one do you prefer – Whisper White or Highland Heather? Hubby says the new look makes it look like an Easter egg……I can’t argue with that!!
That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow, and in the meantime please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Morning Jan.
What a difference in the second card, got to say I prefer the Highland Heather one as love those colours, although the other one is lovely but too much white that it disappears too much into the card. I bet it would also be lovely done on Highland Heather coloured cardstock and white flowers etc.
Love today’s card and that’s lovely the way it is. Great punch that is, lovely set. It amazes me your ideas each day for a card, and actually do the card and photography each day. I so admire people who do blogs for us to follow,
Both of you enjoy your Tuesday, sunny here but bitter cold, the colder it is the longer the dogs want to stay out to make me suffer 😀 xx
Hi, Helen. I’ve replied to your latest message and will delete it once I’ve responded to all today’s comments! I’m hoping you get to see it before I remove it! We’ll see! I kept looking at the second card when it was all white and liked it up close but when it was sitting on the shelf it didn’t look like anything special at all! I much prefer the Highland Heather surround. I agree, i.e. Purple Posy background, Whisper White top layer, Highland Heather oval surround Whisper White flowers and Daffodil Delight flower centres! Yes, it’s -2° here and very sunny! The dogs must keep you very fit! Take care and stay safe. xx
Oh yes Jan that’sounds a lovely card, I feel we might be seeing another version of it 😀
Yes thankfully the dogs are keeping me lovely and fit as I have lost 3 stone in lockdown and got myself back to where I was a few years ago. Feel fit and healthy and in a better place mentally too. I comfort eated when Adrian got poorly but lockdown was a blessing as only did online ordering and I now have a naught cheat day on Saturdays and healthy the other days and now run and do some kettlebells. Now I am fit and healthy and able to look after Adrian better which is great.
Enjoy your day, nearly time to take the little ladies on their daily waggy tail adventure and lucky here to have quite a few beaches etc. They are Mouse and Weasel the cheeky little black cocker spaniels xx
WOW! Helen! Three stones! Congratulations, that’s amazing! I’ve put on half a stone since lockdown started which doesn’t sound much but it’s fair bit for my size! I started dieting/sensible eating last Thursday and have lost two and a quarter pounds. Maybe I could borrow Mouse and Weasel for a couple of weeks! xx
Well done Jan, any weight loss is good.
By all means borrow the pups, in fact after naughty antics today chasing next doors cat…you are welcome to Weasel for sure. Mouse knows how sharp those cats claws are, but Weasel hadn’t and she soon came out of that hedge with the cat hanging on her tail earlier, after ignoring my whistle. Hopefully this is the poor cat chasing over 😀
Hope you both enjoy your Wednesday xx
I like (really like) both cards and I do agree with hubby that this Highland Heather card looks more like an Easter egg. Actually I thought it was an Easter card until I went back and looked at the sentiment (twice)! I also like how the yellow centers look raised on the white card rather than indented as in the Highland card. Either way, your cards are always gorgeous.
Many thanks, Barbara. Yes it would make a great Easter card! I could add a couple on dots on each flower to raise the dots up. Maybe! xx
