Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday wasn’t as hot and sunny as Tuesday but it was still pleasant enough for hubby and I to do a bit of gardening at lunchtime. I had decided to transplant two pot-bound hazelnut shrubs into much larger pots! Hubby brought two pots up to the patio for me and then he brought over all the other bits I needed. I was clearing out the debris that had accumulated at the bottom of the pots and stuck at the bottom was a dead frog! As it was quite a deep pot and not very wide, hubby decided it must have jumped/fallen in but couldn’t get out again. He went back down to the bottom of the garden and tipped the remaining empty pots upside-down so that wouldn’t happen (in our garden) again!!
Today’s card is a baptism card I made using current stamp sets for the images but a retired set for the sentiment! The cross is from His Love, the Church is from the Gift of Hope and the retired stamp set is All God’s Grace and that’s where the sentiment is from. I painted the cross using my Stampin’ Blends as follows: the main outline is Dark Blackberry Bliss, the decoration in each four ends Dark Purple Posy and everywhere else Light Purple Posy.
I die-cut the image using the largest Stitched Shapes oval die and layered it onto a Whisper White Cardstock (CS) scalloped oval which I die-cut using the no 7 scalloped oval die from the Layering Oval Dies. I stamped the two parts of the FOR YOUR and BAPTISM sentiments on scraps of Whisper White CS using my Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I knew how I was going to position the two parts of the sentiment so I used the no 1 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies to die-cut them both.
I positioned the die on FOR YOU so the stitched part of the die went around the end of the sentiment so I could pop it up on Dimensionals and cut the end off where the card ended. I did the reverse for the BAPTISM so the stitches went around the start of the sentiment and I could cut off the end where I needed to! I hope that makes sense. I started to put my card together with a top layer of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Ice Cream Corner DSP, adhered it onto a middle layer of Whisper White CS and then on to a Blackberry Bliss CS card base.
Using Dimensionals I adhered the image in the centre of the card front first and then using Dimensionals again I adhered both parts of the sentiment in position and then cut off the ends to line up with the edge of the Whisper White CS middle layer. Next I painted the cross using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen and added four Silver Metallic Pearls on the four ends of the cross.
Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Whisper White CS and a top layer of Purple Posy CS. You might have noticed that the DSP on the front of the card is Blackberry Bliss stripes with Purple Posy stripes……..hence using Purple Posy CS for the top layer inside the card. Earlier, when I stamped the cross I also stamped the Church. I painted it using the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend, fussy cut it and then adhered it in the bottom right-hand corner. I finished it off by painting the Church using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
A very pleasing card! When I need this card, I will stamp a quotation from the bible inside that I think is best suited for the person being baptised. My first job today is to place my pre-order from the list of products we can choose from the new Annual catalogue! A lot of demonstrators stayed up until 11 pm last night to get their orders in but I like my sleep!! Placing my order this morning will suit me just fine until they start receiving their orders and I’m still waiting………then I’ll be thinking “maybe I should have stayed up late!” LOL!! That’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Morning Jan.
This card looks great, shame the sentiment is from a retired set as that looks lovel, like how you did the stitching bit for both with the bare but in the sides.
Great use of that church again and something I never thought of for cards but would work on Christmas cards too and get my money’s worth on that set all year round.
The colours work well too. I wouldn’t have thought of stripes but it works a treat.
Enjoy your Maundy Thursday…very strange just now with so many limitations in church. xx
Many thanks, Helen. I love the font on this sentiment. I always keep my religious stamp sets so that I have all the Christian sentiments I’ll need for all the special events during the year. I hope you have a very blessed Easter. xxx
Wow! I can’t believe Easter is almost here! This is a lovely card. It is nice to see faith-based cards every so often.
Many thanks, Lisa. Yes, I totally agree with you and it would be great to see more stamp sets for faith-based cards! Although, I do keep all mine when they retire so I have a nice collection of them now! Happy Easter. xx
