Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday, I decided to use up some of my scraps of dry-embossed Whisper White Cardstock (CS). I cut three strips that measured 3 3/4″ tall by 1 3/8″ wide and one strip which measure 3 3/4″ tall by 1 1/4″ wide. Starting from left to right the embossing folders used were Subtle, Brick & Mortar, Tasteful Texture and Greenery. The only one that will be retiring is Subtle.
After adhering the strips onto a top layer of Whisper White CS, I adhered the layer onto a middle layer of Pretty Peacock CS. Yesterday afternoon I was working on the prototype for my Sunday video and stamped a selection of the two smaller tulips in the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set; I’m so pleased this stamp set is being carried over!
I also stamped several leaves using the three different stamps provided in the set, as well as some stems. The tulips were stamped with Terracotta Tile Ink and the leaves and stems were in Pretty Peacock – both of these colours will be retiring on 3rd May 2021. There is a matching punch to go with the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set but only punches the largest tulip – the one I wasn’t using – and one of the leaves.
I decided to fussy-cut the images which was very easy because there isn’t anything fussy about the shapes. As I had so many images, I used some for my card today and I’m fairly confident I will have enough for my prototype. If I haven’t, it won’t take me long to stamp and fussy-cut some more. I started building two tulips on each side of my horizontal card.
There are two stamps for stems in the stamp set, i.e. one straight and one curved. I used just the curved stems so my tulips could bend towards the sentiment which I was planning to put in the centre of the card front. To adhere all the pieces in position I used Tombow except for the tulip heads. For these I’ve tried something different. I don’t know if this is a new idea, but it’s certainly new for me.
I added some Tombow at the base of the flowerhead, approximately about half an inch deep and then I put Dimensionals as near to the top of the image as possible. I think this is a nicer way to pop flower heads up without having them look as if they are floating mid-air! I’m really pleased with this effect and I will definitely be using this idea again. Or at least, once I’ve tested the card to see if it survives going through the post!
I used the same sentiment as yesterday and stamped it using Pretty Peacock Ink. Using the Layering Circle Dies, I die-cut the Whisper White CS sentiment using the straight cut die no 4 and layered it on a Terracotta Tile CS scalloped circle which I’d die-cut using the scallop die no 4. Finally, I layered the sentiment on a scalloped Pretty Peacock CS circle using scallop die no 5. I adhered the sentiment in the centre of the card front popped up on Dimensionals.
To finish off the front of my card, I painted the flowers and the leaves using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Next I added two small and two large Calypso Coral Artistry Blooms Sequins which will be carried forward to the new catalogue!! Inside the card I adhered a middle layer of Pretty Peacock CS and then a top layer of Whisper White CS. Today’s mistake is that I adhered it to the wrong side, which explains why the inside of today’s card has extra layers on both sides!!
I decorated the correct side in the bottom right-hand corner by adhering a small tulip head and one leaf. I finished these off by painting them with my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. I’m pleased how this card finished up, especially with the four different embossed panels on the front!
I hope you have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow with Sunday’s video, mistake-free, I hope! In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
