Hello, Crafters.
I have two items of news for you today. First up is that there has been a Clearance Rack refresh with products available with discounts up to 60%. There aren’t a huge amount of products available but there could be something that’s on your wish list! Please note that product availability will vary by market so if you’re not in the UK please contact your demonstrator for the list that’s applicable to your region. Please click on this link SHOP NOW to be taken to my online shop.
The second item of news is that there is a global Paper Pumpkin Kit (PPK) available called Bouquet of Hope. I haven’t see it yet – although I have ordered it! – but from all the pictures I’ve seen, it looks like the best PPK I’ve ever seen! To shop for this product, click this link: Paper Pumpkin Kit. This is a very short video showing the kit and how to use it:-
To create today’s card I used the soon-to-be-retired Under My Umbrella Stamp Set and decided to stamp onto different designs from the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP). The Annual Catalogue will be retiring on 3rd May so it’s time to get serious about using up DSP scraps otherwise they’ll end up in the bin!
When I made my Thank You cards for my March online customers my design centred round using scraps. I can’t say too much because my workshop order hasn’t arrived yet – hopefully it’ll be today – so Happy Mail hasn’t been sent out yet. I chose to go with lilac because it was the only colour I could find enough scraps to punch out three umbrellas.
For the umbrella handles I used Basic Grey Cardstock (CS) without using the stamp. I started my card with a Purple Posy CS card base with a Basic White CS middle layer and a top layer of Purple Posy CS, inside and outside. To give the top layer on the front of the card some dimension, I dry-embossed it using the Tasteful Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
I chose the largest Stitched So Sweetly rectangle to die-cut a layer of Basic White CS as the background for the umbrellas. Next I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment LIFE’S SHOWERS BRINGS LOVE’S FLOWERS in the bottom right-hand corner using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I adhered it to the top layer using Dimensionals.
Although I wanted to pop the umbrellas up on Dimensionals I wasn’t happy about putting the handles on Dimensionals because they are so thin. I decided to go ahead with the Dimensionals for the umbrellas but I’d adhere the hook of the handles onto the Basic White CS layer using Tombow.
As it turned out I needn’t have worried. When I had arranged the three umbrellas, making sure that not all three umbrella handles were facing the same way, the top two handles were underneath the umbrella below so I was able to leave them “free”. I added a small dab of Tombow under the last handle and so it all worked out fine!
I added a silver Metallic Pearl on the top of each umbrella and then painted the umbrellas using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. When I stamped the three umbrellas for the front of the card I also stamped one of the partially opened umbrellas, or maybe it’s partially closed…who knows! LOL! I finished it off by painting it with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.
Unfortunately none of the glitter showed up in any of the photographs but at least it is visible in real life. I’m happy with my card but I’m still not convinced that umbrellas are a good image for greeting cards! Maybe it’s just me! Anyway, that’s it from me today. I look forward to being back with you soon, In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
