Hello, Crafters.
On Friday I launched my Tutorial PDF Shop as part of my blog. As you know, I’m part of the newly-formed Create With Us team and each month all fifteen of us create a card using a certain bundle – the first one was in May and that was Sweet Strawberry and the second one for this month is Pansy Patch. There are two ways to get the Tutorial from me – the first is for a qualifying order during the month for £45/€60 and the second is to purchase it for £15 from my new Tutorial PDF Shop. I’m really thrilled that I can sell these PDF’s to crafters around the world without restriction. The reason why this is possible is because I’m not selling Stampin’ Up! products. As this is a digital product there are no shipping charges either!
Today’s video shows an added extra to the bookbinding technique I shared with you in video no. 572 on 31st January 2021. Today’s video was inspired by Tammy Beard aka Stampin Savvy who shared a video a few months ago. I had a lot of positive feedback from video 572 and I’m sure today’s video will be equally as popular.
My first card was the Garden Green Hand-penned Flowers card. I was very pleased how it turned out but it wasn’t a good idea to have two layers for the images inside. As you know, I love my layers and they do look superb inside this card but it added extra thickness to an already fairly thick card.
My second card was the Blushing Bride Hand-penned Flowers card which I did as a vertical card as opposed to the horizontal Garden Green Card. Both cards are made in the same way with just two areas that need changing. The first change is the DSP on the front of the card which needs to be cut vertically rather than horizontally. The second change is that the layers inside the “explosion” need to be adhered to face towards the short end rather than the long side.
I really don’t have a preference – I love them both! For the video, I made a masculine card using the Sailing Home Stamp Set and Smooth Sailing Dies. At the beginning of the video I explained I was trying something a bit different in as much as I used some Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) for areas I would normally use Basic White Cardstock (CS), i.e. images and sentiments. I was on a wing and a prayer because I hadn’t tried this to this extent before and I wasn’t sure it would work, although I did feel confident.
The design I used from the DSP was pale blue and looked like the sea and/or the sky which was spot on for using with the Sailing Home Stamp Set. I was really pleased how the card turned out. After I had finished the video I tied some retired Braided Linen Trim around the sealed part of the card and added a retired silver trinket to it.
If you watch the video, you will see a Night of Navy CS die-cut heart appeared on my cutting mat – I have absolutely no idea where it came from! I decided I would adhere it to my card because I feel that a heart doesn’t stop a masculine card from being a masculine card – do you? 😀
I hope you have a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to being back with you during the week. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
