Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday it was our second wedding anniversary! These last two years seem to have flown past, even though for about half of that time we have been in lockdown! We will be celebrating today by having lunch on the patio at the hotel where we had our wedding reception. The hotel has contingency plans in case it rains! Well, this is England! LOL! Hubby sorted out a beautiful anniversary card for me which, like last year’s card, is a laser-cut design. He found out the second anniversary is cotton and bought a personalised white-framed red cotton bow. He also bought two white pure cotton pillow cases. One said YOUR SIDE and the other said MY SIDE. 🤣🤣
Today’s card is a special card I was requested to make by a friend at Church. We have a husband and wife team leaving and they have done so much for our Church. Mr T was very heavily involved in setting us up with Zoom for our Sunday services during lockdown. He also spent time helping some of our older parishioners get set up with Zoom so they could also join in with Sunday services! Mr and Mrs T will be greatly missed.
As the Church have bought them the gift of a tree, I was requested to create a card with a tree as a theme. Fortunately I had already bought the Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set, matching Beautiful Trees Dies and the gorgeous Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP). In my mind, a card with a tree is a great theme for a masculine card but this card was needed for a husband and wife. I kept this thought in my mind so I could add something that would be suitable for both.
The first thing I needed to do was to play with the stamps and dies to get a feel for the set. Once I eventually had an idea for a card, I went through the DSP and chose which design I wanted to use. I narrowed it down to two designs and finally decided on the trees that are a selection of greens plus the occasional Bumblebee areas. After checking which greens were listed as matching and checking actual cardstock against the DSP, I chose to use Garden Green Cardstock (CS) – not too light and not too dark!
I picked a sheet of 12″ x 12″ Garden Green CS and cut it in half so I could make a 6″ x 6″ card. The middle Basic White (CS) layer – inside and outside – measured 5¼” x 5¼” and the top DSP layer measured 5″ x 5″. By leaving a bigger than usual border between the top two layers helped to keep the front of the card from being too dark. After cutting a Basic White CS circle using the no 4 die from the Stitched Shapes dies, I stamped three of the ground stamps on the bottom of the circle which would make the tree looked grounded.
Next, I embossed the circle using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Using Garden Green Ink, I stamped the smaller tree top from the stamp set. I also stamped the THANK YOU stamp from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. After finding a scrap of Soft Suede CS I sorted out the smaller tree trunk/branches die. I put this through my Big Shot at the same time as the THANK YOU stamped image using the no 2 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle dies.
I adhered the tree top to the tree stump/branches and adhered to the Basic White CS circle using Dimensionals. Next I adhered the image circle and the sentiment to the card front using more Dimensionals. To finish off the front of the card I was going to add a couple of the Bumblebee Trinkets but decided they weren’t appropriate for a tree without blossom. I took the die that cuts out two birds – there are two birds on one die but cuts as individual birds – and Bumblebee CS was the ideal colour!
After adhering one to the sentiment and one to the image, I decided they needed eyes. Using a very fine-point black pen, I gently pressed the pen down in the correct position for the eyes. Once this was done I was happy with the card – definitely suitable for a male and female card. I hope Mr & Mrs T are very happy with it. That’s it from me today. My day starts with a visit to Sharon to get my nails done. Hubby will come and pick me up and we’re off for the day starting with lunch on the patio – as long as it doesn’t rain! I look forward to being back with you soon and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Jan and Othman: Again congratulations on your 2nd Anniversary. Thought of you both all day long yesterday. Just love the frame with your cotton bow. Just gorgeous.
Now the card for your fellow Parishioners is just perfect for the occasion. To me, the birds just add the finishing touch.
XX M
Many thanks, Mal. We had a fabulous lunch yesterday on the patio of the hotel we held our wedding reception in. Temperature went up to 27°! xx
Happy Anniversary, pray for many happy returns.
Many thanks, Margaret. When I found Othman, I found my best friend and soul mate! xx
Congratulations on your anniversary. It sounds to me like Othman is enjoying celebrating each anniversary. I hope your lunch was wonderful. The card you made is so appropriate for some dearly loved church members.
Many thanks, Lisa. Othman has always gone that extra mile when it comes to buying gifts for me. I’m pleased you like the Thank You card. xx
Beautiful card as usual, Jan. Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary. We had our 52nd anniversary on the 13th (yes, we were married on Friday the 13th). Wishing you many more. Hope your lunch was able to be had on the patio with no rain.
Many thanks, Lola and belated congratulations on your 52nd anniversary. We had a beautiful lunch on the patio yesterday with the temperature reaching 27°! xx
Happy Anniversary! Othman is so sweet and sentimental. I love the frame, card and the pillowcases are a hoot. Hope you have a great and sunny day. Sheron
Many thanks, Sheron. On Tuesday I had my nails done by Sharon. We’re were talking about satnav and at one point I said I was hopeless with my left and right! Although I know which is which, when I’m driving, Othman has to say my side or your side. I laughed out loud because I hadn’t previously made that connection! 🤣🤣🤣 xxx
Congratulations on your second anniversary, have a lovely day..
(We celebrate our 57th this year so you have a way to go. ) haha..
Best wishes Garnet.x
Many thanks, Garnet, and many, many congratulations on your 57th wedding anniversary when it arrives. xx!
Happy anniversary! Yes, the years, months, days go so quickly. It seems to me the two of you make the most of your time! The anniversary tributes selected by you hubby are sensationally sentimental and thoughtful! What a guy!
Many thanks for your very kind words, Billie! xx
