Hello, Crafters.
I’m so pleased Stampin’ Up! are having a sale of Designer Series Paper (DSP) this month because I’m using my DSP much quicker than I have done in the past. There are three sets I need to buy another pack of i.e. You’re a Peach, Hand-Penned and In the Wild. What a result! In case you’ve not seen the flyer, please click on this link: Designer Series Paper Sale July 2021.
Several months ago I saw a video demonstrating how to make an Easel Book Card. I thought the card was fabulous but felt that it needed a box to go in rather than an envelope and I dismissed the idea of making a video. Recently, I received a request from Janet, a crafter in Australia, to make this video.
It gave me the push I needed to look into making a box for the card as well. As I was making my prototype card – the Rococo Rose card – I had a lightbulb moment when I thought about our A6 Acetate card boxes. The card fitted in beautifully so I decorated the box by making one large belly band for it.
Initially, I wanted to make the belly band using just the DSP I’ve used as the middle piece – with the small flowers – but I didn’t have a piece large enough. I decided to add a strip on either side using the stripe design I’d used as the top page of the (book) card. I loved the result which is why I used the same idea for the Hand-Penned card I made in the video!
The question is, will it survive going through the mail? There’s only one way to find out the answer and that is to try it which I will be doing this coming week. I’ll let you know if the card survives or not! I’d like to say thank you to Janet for requesting this video – without your request Janet, I’d still be sitting on the fence! Thank you. 😀
Before trying to make this card, I watched four videos on YouTube and picked out the bits I liked from each. I also added rounded corners which I didn’t see in any of the videos. The design of this card is suitable for any occasion but I can imagine some fabulous cards a wedding card, engagement card or anniversary card!
In case you’re not on my mailing list, the Create With Us team of international Stampin’ Up! demonstrators which I’m part of, has just released The third monthly tutorial bundle PDF which features the Sweet as a Peach Bundle. The bundle features fifteen projects all of which include measurements in inches and metric, list of products used, colour photographs and step by step instructions. This is available to be purchased from my Tutorial Shop page on my website.
As this is a digital product, it’s available for purchase worldwide. Click on the link to visit my Tutorial Shop. The first two tutorial PDF’s are still available for purchase. I hope you have a very blessed Sunday. Take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.

Goedemorgen Jan.
Oh goodness Jan. I’m really loving this card. This will make a card that surely will not be in stores & we made it ourselves. I have seen somewhere on YouTube, I think, where there are dies to make this card. I love how you have created this one. Be well & TYFS
Hi, Clare. Funnily enough I was contacted by a lady in Spain who needed some advice. I received a book card from her that she had made using the dies you are referring to. The card was beautiful and she’d also made a small stand for it as it was like a postcard rather than a single fold card (which I imagine would be do-able; or the postcard could be adhered on the front of a card base). However, unlike the “manual” card, all the pages are flat. The pages could be curled back like in the video but there would be quite large gaps on the left and right outside edges. When they are laying flat, the edges all round are even. Both type of book cards are very effective and I think the deciding factor is with or without raised pages. I hope this helps. xx
Oh Jan, I think there’s no contest for me on this one. I absolutely love the raised pages! If I make one it will be the way you have showed us with the pages raised. Hope you are doing well. Be well & TYFS
Hi, Claire. Yes, there’s definitely a WOW with this card! xx
Just love these Jan cannot wait to have a go at making one. Hugs Carmen xxx
Many thanks, Carmen. Enjoy! xx
