Hello, Crafters.
During last week I saw a card made by someone and I thought it looked very much like a card I’d made quite some time ago but turned sideways. I found my video, i.e. no. 289 Front Step Card (published on 21st June 2017!) and it was a very similar idea, but it made me have the idea for today’s card. I’m not sure Side Step Card is a good name for it but my original was called Front Step Card, so the name is fine!
In the video, I showed a couple of (poor quality! my toners needed changing!!) screenshots of my original cards. Once I started making these cards I just wanted to carry on. We have so many stamp sets at the moment which will work brilliantly with this design. I also have another idea in mind to follow on from this!
The first card I made was the farm animals from Peekaboo Farm Stamp Set. I painted the animals using my Stampin’ Write Markers because I knew the back of the heads of two of the animals would be visible from the back and if I’d used Blends, the colour would bleed through to the back. I have a solution for this problem but only if the stamp set has matching dies. These farm animals had to be fussy cut!
The second card I made was the Christmas card using images from the Be Jolly Stamp Set; again, no matching dies! For the video card I decided to choose a stamp set with matching dies. The Counting Sheep Stamp Set and matching Sheep Dies are available as gifts from the Sale-a-bration brochure until 30th September 2021 or while stocks last. If this set is on your wish list make sure you get it sooner rather than later and risk disappointment.
I stamped, coloured and die-cut one of each of the three sheep in preparation for the video. At this point I wasn’t sure how I was going to decorate my card but I also die-cut one of each sheep using plain Basic White Cardstock (CS). I adhered two on the back of the stamped sheep to cover up where the Stampin’ Blends had bled through and saved the third one to demonstrate the process during the video.
During the video I stamped all three sheep using my Stamparatus. After slightly amending the sheep’s eyes with a very fine marker pen, I coloured one to demonstrate how I did it. The colours I used were the Light & Dark Smokey Slate and Ivory Stampin’ Blends. In the box below the video, I have given two sets of measurements!
One is for the Father Christmas card which has all my regular layers and the second set is for the Counting Sheep and Peekaboo Farm cards. The second set of measurements given include the brick wall which completely covers the Old Olive CS smaller piece of cardstock. I felt I wanted the brick wall to look as much as a brick wall as possible without the interruption of layers. I hope you enjoy today’s video.
I hope you have a very blessed Sunday and whatever your plans are, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Loving this card Jan. Those sheep are adorable. On my list of “to make”. Be well & TYFS
Many thanks, Claire. Yes, they are and they have dies! That’s a big plus for a lot of crafters! xx
