Hello, Crafters.
I have finally uploaded the October 2021 Create with Us Tutorial PDF! Life was exceptionally busy at the Stampin’ Up! year end on 30th September but I have finally caught up with myself!! Yesterday I started packaging up Happy Mail for my September online customers. This is an unusually big job this month because I’d made a special offer to my customers for the last week of the year because I was so close to earning next year’s Incentive Trip that I needed some extra help. I was overwhelmed by the support I received from my customers.
Back to the Tutorial PDF. This month it features the Penguin Place Bundle which comprises of the Penguin Place Stamp Set and the Penguin Builder Punch. The fifteen projects include ten amazing single fold cards, two 3D projects and three fancy fold cards. The 94 page PDF includes measurements in metric and inches, step-by-step instructions, a list of products used as well as plenty of photographs. This is amazing value for just £15.00 and can be purchased from wherever you live in the whole wide world! This is the link for my Tutorial Shop.
Last night I had so much fun creating today’s card! My starting point was wanting to use the Christmas Cheer Dies which co-ordinate with the Words of Cheer Stamp Set. I have no idea why I chose the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper (DSP) but I’m pleased I did! Unfortunately, some of the silver stripes on the DSP appears as Highland Heather/Gorgeous Grape but trust me they are silver stripes on white! When I first saw this pack of DSP I thought pink was an odd choice of colour for Christmas but I do love the Blushing Bride foiled sheet with the snowflakes!
Ever since I bought the Layering Diorama Dies I have wanted to use them and I felt this would be a great opportunity. I started by die-cutting both HAPPY dies using some white glossy paper AKA photographic paper! Next I used my Blending Brushes together with Blushing Bride Ink, and later with Smokey Slate Ink to see if I could colour the glossy paper. It worked brilliantly! Using the dies numbered 4 to 7, I die-cut the silver stripe design and the pink snowflake design. I also die-cut a Basic White Thick Cardstock (CS) for each DSP layer I’d die-cut and adhered them together.
I played with the various layers and the different coloured HAPPY die-cuts until I was happy with the layout. Then I knew exactly how my card was going to come together. The first step was to cut a Blushing Bride CS card base that measured 11½” x 5¾” scored and folded at 5¾”. I also cut two middle layers of Basic White CS that measured 5½” x 5½” but I didn’t like so much blank white behind my die-cut shapes. To add interest I adhered some Wonderful Snowflakes on one of the white layers and embossed it using the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I heat embossed CHRISTMAS which is from the Words of Cheer Stamp Set using Silver Embossing Powder on Basic White CS and die-cut it using the no 1 slim die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
I die-cut five more of the top HAPPY using glossy white paper and adhered them altogether before finally adhering them to the base HAPPY. Everything was coming together nicely and I decided to die-cut five more layers for CHRISTMAS as well. By the way, when I heat embossed CHRISTMAS with Silver Embossing Powder, I also did one in Blushing Bride Ink and Versamark. It looked great but for this card I preferred the silver one so the pink one lives for another project – well, it would if I could find it! 🤣 I finished the front of my card by adding several Rhinestones.
Inside the card I added the second Basic White CS layer that measured 5½” x 5½”. To decorate it I adhered the HAPPY that I had used my Blending Brush and Blushing Bride Ink to colour largely because I wanted you to see what it looks like – it would have been nice to have the pink Christmas to adhere there as well but as I said, it’s gone walkabouts! I’m really pleased with my finished card although I am still struggling with pink!! LOL!
That’s it from me today! I look forward to being back with you an in the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
