Hello, Crafters.
Today has been a more relaxed day than it was yesterday. At lunchtime, hubby and I had our booster vaccinations and as neither of us had much a a reaction with the first two doses, we’re hoping for the same again! This is the card I had wanted to share with you yesterday and it’s a card I’m really pleased with. Although I’m not normally an orange or brown person, I love Cinnamon Cider. I think it combines orange and brown together beautifully! I used my Stamparatus to stamp two stockings from the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. For the red bows, I stamped on Real Red Cardstock (CS) using Real Red Ink. After I had painted the stockings using Dark Pool Party and Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, I used dies from the Christmas Trimmings Dies to die-cut all four images.
Next, I die-cut eight holly leaves from Pear Pizzazz CS and two strips of 6 berries from a scrap of Real Red CS. I chose the Cinnamon Cider brick design from the Bloom Where You’re Planted Designer Series Paper (DSP). My aim was to create a scene that resembled a chimney breast but I couldn’t find a piece of wood DSP for the mantelpiece that was light enough without being too light against the white area where I’ve stamped the sentiment. I decided a strip of Cinnamon Cider CS would work beautifully and didn’t entertain a passing thought I had about embossing it. I’m glad I didn’t because I think it looks clean and uncluttered as it is! To build my card I took a regular card base in Basic White CS and added a Cinnamon Cider CS middle layer, inside and on the front of the card. I also adhered a regular top layer of Basic White CS inside the card.
After I had stamped the IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR sentiment, using Cinnamon Cider Ink, on a piece of Basic White CS, I cut it to the correct width of a regular top layer – yes it would have been more sensible to get the size correct first! LOL! – and about 2″ tall. After adhering the sentiment piece in position on the front of the card, I cut a piece of the brick design so the height added to the height of the sentiment piece was the correct height for a top layer. For the mantelpiece across the chimney breast, I cut a piece of Cinnamon Cider CS that was the normal measurement for a top layer and cut it to ¾” wide. I positioned it where I felt it looked best between the sentiment and where the stockings would be hanging. After adhering the stockings in position using Dimensionals I added Mini Dimensionals to both “wings” on each bow and added a small dab of Tombow on the tails of the bow to adhere them to the top of the stockings.
To give my card finishing touches I added two holly leaves in the top left-hand and bottom right-hand corners of the sentiment area. I found it fiddly trying to glue the sets of three holly berries on each pair of holly leaves but life was a lot easier when I started using the putty tip of my Take Your Pick Tool! I can’t believe I haven’t given that part of the tool a test run before now. I have also been using it recently for my Subtle Shimmer Sequins! So much easier! Amazing. To finish off the front of my card I added a Red Basic Rhinestone to the centre of each bow and I painted the berries using my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Inside my card I added two holly leaves in the top left-hand corner and two in the bottom right-hand corner. I put my Take Your Pick Tool back to work and added three holly berries to each pair of leaves. I forgot to paint the berries inside my card with my Wink of Stella pen before I photographed it but I have done it since. SPECIAL NOTE: I have updated the measurements for my basic card sizes to include metric measurements. They are set out as follows: A4 (Metric) US

I love this one, Jan. I, too, really like Cinnamon Cider. Makes me homesick, though. I grew up in a home with a great fireplace we used all the time. I haven’t seen my dad or brother in several years. I, too, really like Cinnamon Cider.
Many thanks, Kimy. You can’t beat this kind of tradition, can you? 💖 xx
