I hope you enjoyed a beautiful sunny Easter weekend. Here in the south in the UK the weather was very spring-like i.e. very sunny, a slight breeze and warmed up during the day to a pleasant temperature.
As we hurtle towards 3rd May and the launch of the new Annual Catalogue, I’m trying to use up my remaining Designer Series Paper (DSP) which will be retiring and also using new stamp sets that are still unused! I chose to use the two chimps from the Catch You Later stamp set- because it gave me the opportunity to use some of the Artfully Composed DSP. The particular design I chose has appealed to me ever since I first saw it. I’m not sure why but it may be the bold splash of Calypso Coral that I think really packs a real WOW!
Originally I had planned to make a regular C6/A2 size card but I had to change my plans when I used the fancy circle die from the Encircled in Beauty Dies. I’m really sorry to see them retire from the catalogue although they won’t be retiring from my stash! I had to make a larger than planned card i.e. 7″ x 5″ because the die-cut was slightly bigger on the vertical sides than my regular top layer. If you prefer the C6/A2 card check the size die-cut your chosen die will create before you cut! I chose a Basic White Cardstock (CS) card base and Calypso Coral CS for my middle layers which measure 6½” x 4½” The DSP top layer on the front of the card and the Basic White CS top layer inside the card both measure 6⅜” x 4⅜”.
I used my Stamparatus and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the both images; the second one is in the bottom right-hand corner of the top layer inside the card. Both images were coloured the same way using Stampin’ Blends: chimps Light & Dark Soft Suede, branch and leaves Dark Soft Suede and Light & Dark Just Jade, face, cheeks and inner ears Ivory, and to shadow all around the image and sentiment Light Pool Party. When I had adhered the DSP to the Calypso Coral CS layer, I tied a piece of the retired 2020-2022 In Colour Ribbon in Just Jade around the lower half and tied it in a bow.
I adhered the layers to the front of the card base, making sure I put extra Tombow Glue along the ribbon. Next I adhered the image using Dimensionals. To finish the front of my card I adhered five Silver Epoxy Essentials to the DSP and two more to the image. This product is still available (UK and EU) in Last Chance Products at half price – I bought myself two packs! I adhered the middle and top layers inside my card and sat back to admire my card. Then I decided on one more addition which is something I don’t often add! I added some googly eyes to the chimps because I thought they looked cheeky enough to carry them off!
