Hello, Crafters.
I saw this card demonstrated by Split Coast Stampers and thought what a novel idea. Recently there seems to have been a lot of cards created that have a floating image, like on this card; it’s an idea I rather like! It now seems to be a regular feature of my videos that I supply measurements, score lines etc. for our regular C6/A2 size cards as well as a larger card – today it’s a 7″ x 5″. I also include metric measurements for all sizes except A2. It certainly gives my brain a good workout! LOL!
The Fresh Freesia (lilac) card is my prototype. It turned out really well despite making quite a big boo boo! That is, I adhered the panels on the front of the card before adhering the supports. It isn’t the kind of mistake that will make me throw the card card away but it did focus my mind when I made my “before video” card which was the Bumblebee C6 size card.
I kept the design for all three cards more or less the same. As there are a lot of products retiring in less than three weeks, I’m trying to use up as much of my retiring stash as possible in order to save waste. I was very surprised at how many die-cut pansies and leaves I had that were just waiting to be used! These three cards have made a big dent in them but I still have enough to make another two or three cards!
I also had two die-cut pansy buds that I had created using cardstock; I have used on the stopper panel of the Fresh Freesia card. These cards have also helped me to use up some of my Designer Series Paper (DSP) although (I think) the two designs I used for the Bumblebee card I found in my (already) retired stash. Although I do have a current Bumblebee design I couldn’t find anything to go with!
I also made a big boo boo while making today’s video which I think goes to prove I can’t chat and concentrate at the same time! The stopper panel should have been adhered in place with Dimensionals, except I had been using the Dimensional Sheets. Because I was chatting, I didn’t pay attention to what I was doing and adhered the stopper panel down onto the card base!! DOH!!
To correct this, I cut a replacement Basic White Cardstock strip to size but then found I didn’t have enough of the spotted design DSP I had used. I reached for a spotted design in Calypso Coral from the You’re a Peach DSP. I knew it was there because I had considered using it originally. I adhered the cardstock and DSP together and then added wide strips of Dimensional sheet.
Before I adhered the panel in position, I went over the Dimensional strip with Tombow. I did this because it would allow me some wiggle room which I knew I would need. The strip went into place very easily and covered my boo boo beautifully! I did make another mistake which I suspected I had made but couldn’t see it until I photographed the Bumblebee card!
The last time I had used my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen, I was rather heavy handed when squeezing the barrel to get more glitter through to the brush! I felt very disappointed when I saw the card that was facing straight to the camera because it looked like there were dirty smears on the two large die-cut pansies. I’m going to try adhering two more die cut pansies over them to cover up the smears!
That’s about it for today. I wish you all a very blessed Easter and I look forward to being back soon. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Merci beaucoup, Andrée. Quel plaisir d’avoir eu des notes laissées par votre maman. Quelle belle chose à faire. xx
Thank you once again , Jan , for sharing your amazing cards with detailed instructions for all to use freely . I know that if I see one of your beautiful cards I’ll always be able to access the instructions . Nothing frustrates me more than coming across a card fold that the creator is not willing to share instructions for .
