Hello, Crafters.
Today’s video shows how to make a W-V Fancy Fold card. It has been very popular recently and I planned to make a video but never got round to it, until now! I’m not crediting anyone for the creation of this card as I haven’t any idea who that person is. It’s a very simple card and it made a very pleasant change for me to make a video where I actually do a fair amount of stamping. 😀
I demonstrated how I colour single line around the outside edges of images to create a shadow or grounding effect. It’s really simple and very effective. The stamp set I used is the Crane of Fortune for the dahlia image, the dragonflies and also the two sprigs of leaves. I used two sentiments from the Bamboo Beauty Stamp Set (carrying forward) and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Enjoy the Moment Stamp Set (retiring).
My first prototype card didn’t work out well because my scoring didn’t create panels that lined up with each other. I believe this happens to me because sometimes when I line my cardstock I’m at the start of the black marker, sometimes on it and sometimes past it! This is why I far prefer to use my Scoreboard. Each panel is guaranteed to be perfect because the score lines are fixed in place – no guessing!
The benefit of my first prototype not working out was that it gave me a chance to find a way to made the “V” card lay flat on the four panels when they are laid out. In the video I was able to show the results of my efforts. I think there must be a way to be able to do this but at the moment, I can’t think of it. I might get hubby to have a look at it to see if a fresh pair of eyes can see why it isn’t happening. I suspect the four panels are too thick for the V card!
I don’t think I used any different products for my Calypso Coral prototype card apart from changing the cardstock and the different designs I chose from the Symbols of Fortune Designer Series Paper (DSP). This is my favourite pack of DSP which, considering the great offerings we’ve had this year, it really is saying a lot! Fortunately, this DSP is in the Spring/Summer Mini Catalogue so we still have two months to use it.
During this past week Stampin’ Up! announced that the NEW Magnetic Plate for the Cut & Emboss Machine will be available to demonstrators and customers when the new Annual catalogue goes live i.e. on 3rd May 2022. If you watch my videos, you’ll know I went back to my Big Shot when the original platform was withdrawn; so I’m really excited with this news! The Mini Magnetic Cutting Plate (151005) is still in its final development and no release date has been announced. You may be interested in making a note of these dates for future catalogues and Sale-a-bration: 1st July 2022 – Christmas Mini Catalogue goes LIVE and the 2nd Sale-a-bration of 2022 begins and it ends on 31st August 2022
Finally, Stampin’ Up! has partnered with a third-party company HANOVER RESEARCH to conduct several phases of global research throughout 2022. This research is designed to help Stampin’ Up! better understand crafters and prospective customer’s product usage and preferences. If you receive an email invitation to participate in a survey by Hanover Research, this is a legitimate request and Stampin’ Up! would be grateful if you are happy to take part.
That’s it from me today. I wish you a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to be back with you soon. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

Evening Jan. What an absolutely stunning card and one which I so look forward to eventually being able to make. Healing well and grateful. Blessings. Mal and Gang
Hi, Mal. I’m glad to hear you’re making progress. I hope the gang are also keeping well. 💖 xxxx
Jan. Thank You for always including sizing for us in the US whose paper is sizes differently to yours band who make mainly A2 cards. It is so helpful. I love this card fold.
Many thanks, Derin. I’ve just googled why North America uses letter-size cardstock and the rest of the world uses A4. It appears that letter-size was created for inches 8.5 x 11 and A4 for metric 210mm x 297mm. But that doesn’t explain why we are different!! Oh well!! 😀 xx
Lovely! Thanks for once again sharing your talent.
Many thanks, Linda. Sharing really is my pleasure. xx
I can’t always stamp straight so I stamp in a slanted mod so that solves my problem. Love this card and will make it.
Many thanks, Lynda. The only way I can guarantee to stamp straight is by using my Stamparatus! xx
Thank you so much, no words can describe the joy and pleasure i get it working on your cards that you show us. Yes, having the US measurements helps. haven’t seen this video yet but when it comes up i will be watching. take care and stay safe.
Many thanks, Dee. Going by the response I’ve received for this project, I think you’ll love it! xx
Hi Jan no worries about not stamping straight. I can never get mine straight. But then that’s the joy of a hand made card.
Love your videos.
Skeeter
Many thanks, Skeeter. It’s nice to know I’m not alone! 😀 xx
Thanks for the lovely card tutorial. I just finished a Mother’s Day card for my daughter. I think she’ll love it. It’s taken all afternoon, but it is well worth it!
Many thanks, Sharon. I think it’s very appropriate for a Mother’s Day card i.e. star-shaped for star mothers! I’m sure she’ll love it too. xx
