Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday I decided to have a play with a two-step stamp set called Bottled Happiness. It’s available in the new annual catalogue as a bundle with a matching punch. As you know, I like two-step stamping but I do like to practise on scrap paper first on scrap paper before I’m confident enough to move onto cardstock. I really don’t like waste! My first attempt was with the flowers and the leaves. I learned it is not a good idea to stamp the leaves first! My result wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anywhere near as good as my second attempt which I did the other way round. If you have already bought this stamp set, or are thinking about it, you’ll be pleased to know that it is an easy two-step stamp set that is very straightforward to line up. I practised four times on scrap paper before stamping the image I used to make today’s card onto cardstock. The time I spent practising was time well spent!
I used Pale Papaya for the flowers and Garden Green for the leaves. For the bottle I used Garden Green for the main part of the image and Evening Evergreen for the outline detail. I want to practise with the bottle a bit more because I’m not sure I have done it any real justice. To decorate the top Pale Papaya Cardstock (CS) layer inside the card, I stamped the flower and leaves stamps in the bottom right-hand corner coming off the edge and leaving about four-fifths still visible.
I used my standard size Pale Papaya CS card base (measurements below my signature), with a Basic White CS middle layer and the top layer was the Pale Papaya script design that is on the reverse of a design in the Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper (DSP). Before I adhered it to the middle Basic White CS layer, I embossed it using the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. If I didn’t tell you that the top layer was DSP I’m not sure you would have realised! I think this card would look better as a 7″ x 5″ card because there would be a greater area of the embossed layer visible compared with my smaller C6/A2 card. I cut a strip of Heart & Home DSP which measures 1¼” x 3¾” and adhered it to a layer of Pale Papaya CS which measures 1⅜” x 3⅜”. I adhered this layer approximately across the middle of my card base.
After I had stamped my image on a piece of Basic White CS which measures 3” x 4¾” , I adhered it to a layer of Pale Papaya CS which measures 3⅛” x 4⅞”. Next, I added some regular sized Dimensionals at the top and bottom of the Pale Papaya backing to the image and then I adhered some more just above and just below the strip of Heat & Home DSP. I did it this way to make sure I didn’t put any on the back of the image which would then go onto the DSP strip.
I chose the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the Art Gallery Stamp Set and stamped it using Garden Green Ink on a scrap of Basic White CS. The die I used to cut out the sentiment is from the Sending Dies. The die was too long so I lined the end up towards the H and ran it through my Big Shot. I repositioned the die onto the die-cut sentiment so the cutting edge lined up to the edge that had already been cut and the fancy end piece was positioned to cut off the excess just by the Y in birthday. Then ran it through my machine again! It worked a treat! To support the end of the sentiment I found one Dimensional wasn’t enough and two was too much. I took a short piece of our Foam Adhesive Foam Strips and cut it in two – sort of – sideways! One piece was thicker than the other and worked perfectly in keeping the sentiment level from the beginning to the end! Definitely a case of it worked “more by luck than judgement”!!
I decorated the front of the card by adding Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the green centres of all the flowers plus a bow I made using the ⅜” Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon. To finish my card I adhered the top layer of Pale Papaya CS which I decorated earlier, to the middle Basic White CS layer and then adhered it inside the card on the right-hand side!
A nice and easy card that packs a quiet wow! If you enjoy two-step stamping, I’m sure you’ll love this stamp set! Before I sign off, don’t forget the special joining promotion ends on 31st May 2022. Many thanks, Judy. It’s a great two-step stamp set and so easy to line up as long as you stamp the flowers first! Enjoy! xx
