Hello, Crafters.
Today’s card is a clean and simple birthday card featuring the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper (DSP). I’ve case’d a card made by Lynn Cheesmur which she shared on a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Facebook group. If you would like to check out her video, go on to YouTube and type Lynniecdesigns in the search box and it should be the first video that comes up.
As I was only going to use one layer on my card, I decided to use our Thick Basic White Cardstock (CS). I cut my card to the regular C6 (A2) size but should have cut it lengthways i.e. 11½” x 4⅛” scored and folded at 5¾”. Unfortunately, I cut the cardstock as I always do and now it keeps doing the splits when I sit it on the shelf. Does any know how to stop this happening without giving it some support! I’d really love to know!
I also cut myself two top layers that were ⅛” shorter on two adjoining sides than my card front. Next I decided to die cut some of the images from the DSP using the Blossoming Happiness dies which matches the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set. These two products are available as a bundle which saves 10% on the individual prices. The stamp set also includes individual stamps that match the images that can be die-cut from the DSP!
Before I started assembling my card, I stamped the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the stamp set in the bottom right-hand corner using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. There is an unusually good selection of sentiments in this stamp set with all of them featuring something that is written in the great font that HAPPY BIRTHDAY is written in.
Next I cut a 1⅛” strip of the DSP that would match the flower I had die-cut previously. After I had adhered the strip in place I had to trim off a slight overhang. When I had curled the petals on the large die cut flower, I adhered one image of five leaves and another image of two leaves which I had die cut from the DSP behind it. I put some Dimensionals on the back of the flower and then adhered it onto the strip of DSP!
It’s such a simple card but it is just so beautiful! I had a look through my gems and found some fairly large retired gems which I painted with a black Sharpie Pen. The gems were two slightly different sizes which worked out well for the centres of the two main flowers. To complete the front of the card, I painted the flower with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter pen and added two large and one small Very Vanilla Polished Dots (158134) randomly on the plain white area.
To decorate the inside of the card I used one of the smaller die cut flowers from the DSP in the bottom right-hand corner. I had forgotten to paint it with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen so I stopped writing for a couple of moments to do it while it was in my mind! Many thanks to Lynn Cheesmur for sharing her card in our demonstrators Facebook group.
