Hello, Crafters.
Yesterday hubby and I did our first “show” for goodness knows how long and it brought back so many happy memories! It wasn’t actually a show but a crafters’ table top sale; a bit like a jumble sale for crafters! There were four Stampin’ Up! demonstrators there that I knew and several others that I do know now! As you can imagine, there were masses of retired SU products for sale! All the stamp sets I was selling were unused which was a very positive plus for us and helped us to have a good day! We are both now talking about re-starting doing shows although we may have left it a bit late for this year but unless I make enquiries, I won’t find out! Watch this space!
I made a video about five or six years ago showing how to make a pop up book card and when I revisited it recently, I decided it was time for an updated version! Back then I included inches and metric for A4 cardstock but it was before I started to include measurements for letter-size cardstock. The measurements I gave were for a 6″ x 6″ card which meant crafters needed 12″ x 12″ cardstock which I know not everyone has!
So I’m pleased to say I have provided measurements for today’s card as a square card in three sets of measurements as well as a C6 in inches and metric and an A2 in inches – a total of six different sizes! When I made the C6 card I found it quite a challenge because the two book pages inside are quite small and and I found them quite restrictive in how they can be decorated.
The Grey Granite card is the video card and the Night of Navy card is the “before video” card. The products I used for this card are the same as the video card with the exception of the colour. All the Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Sun Prints pack. The embellishments I used on the Night of Navy are (inside the card) Brass Brushed Butterflies and on the front of the card two Bumblebee Trinkets which have now retired! I have two left and that’s all of them used!
The Soft Succulent CS card was my prototype and used a mixture of current and retired products. As well as the Bumblebee, the yellow gems in the middle of the two pansies on the front of the card are also retired. They were from a pack of In Colour gems when the colour Bumblebee became available two years ago. The Pansy Petals DSP is also retired and that provided the Soft Succulent Gingham design as well as the die-cut pansies. The new and current products include the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder which I used for the two book pages and the book ends to add character to the Basic White CS. I chose the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment from the Sentimental Swirls Stamp Set which was inspired by the UK’s one million dollar seller Sam Hammond. I love the size of it and its simplicity.
The die I used to put the sentiment layer on is from the new set of dies called Fabulous Frames Dies (159163 page 171). This is a stand-alone set of dies that can be easy to miss, along with several other stand-alone dies! I have used this set of dies four or five times mainly for this frame! The die cuts out the centre panel as well as the fancy frame but I don’t like the look of the frame with the die-cut oblong sitting back in the centre from where it has been cut out from! I hope that makes sense!!
The way I use this die-cut is to adhere the frame and the oblong centre in position on where I want my sentiment to go. Then I cut the sentiment layer a tad bigger than the centre oblong so it can be adhered over the die-cut oblong and cover the die-cut lines. This way, I think the frame looks fabulous. The other part of this set of dies I have used are one set of the two sets of photograph corners! There are fabulous!
I hope you like today’s video and give it a try. I wish you a very blessed Sunday and I look forward to being back with you soon. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx

I loved watching your video you make it look easy. The fact that you suppyi the measurements in order
to follow along or do at a later date was very helpful. This pop-up card is one I look forward to trying.
Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks, Barbara. About twelve years ago, I started to learn cardmaking by watching YouTube videos. I think back then, videos were restricted to 10 minutes. It was during this time I learned what I liked and disliked about videos and knew that I would avoid these issues If I ever made videos. One thing that I found irritating was being forced to go to someone’s website to get the measurements! I totally understand why it’s a good idea to do this; I just didn’t like it! Have fun recreating this card. xx
Thanks Jan for figuring out the measurements for A2 card size. It hurts my head when I have to figure out the measurements on my own to convert your card size to US. You go the extra mile for us.
It’s my pleasure, Nola. Working out the measurements for all three card sizes gives my brain a good workout! LOL! xx
I thank you so much for adding the measurements to follow with your video. This is an amazing card and I love the Sun print paper. I am from the US and love your video’s
Many thanks, ArtGranny. I prefer watching videos that start with measurements, too! 😀 xx
Hi Jan. Lovely card as usual. Just wondered if you’d write your message on the back or on one of the inside panels? Thanks, Jan.
Many thanks, Jan. I’d definitely write on the back of the card. With my writing, I prefer it to be hidden especially if it’s a fancy fold card and the inside of the card is on display. xx
