Hello, Crafters.
What a fabulous weekend the Jubilee weekend has been! We were very blessed with the weather in as much as the rain held off until after the street party had finished! It was a great turnout and everybody mingled with everyone one else and by the time we went home, we knew a lot more people than we did when we first arrived! I didn’t win the best dressed table but I was very pleased how it looked and received a lot of compliments for my wreath and paper flowers – see photographs lower down.
To create today’s card I used the Hostess stamp set called Garden Grandeur which is a two-step stamp set. I decided to colour my images using Stampin’ Blends in Light & Dark Petal Pink and Old Olive. I also used some of our new Stampin’ Up! Masking Paper! Have you seen it in the new catalogue – page 149 item 9 (155480)? It’s like Post It Notes but with sticky all over! I stamped the largest two flowers onto some Masking Paper and cut around the edges making sure I cut off ALL the black-stamped edges.
After I had stamped my first flower onto my layer of Basic White Cardstock (CS), I covered it with my Masking Paper cut flower and stamped the smaller flower, so about two thirds of it was on the cardstock layer and the other third was on the Masking Paper flower. Then I covered the second flower with the smaller Masking Paper flower and stamped a second larger flower so it was just touching the lower part of the two Masking Paper flowers that was protecting the first two stamped images – I hope that makes sense!!
When it came to removing the two Masking Paper flowers, I found it easier using my Paper Piercer to gently lift the edges up and off the stamped images on my Basic White CS layer. (These masks can be used over and over again so I keep mine inside the front of my stamp set – between the label and the actual box!) The result was brilliant!
The first stamped flower looks as if it is on top with the second stamped flower to the back of the first stamped flower but just on top of the second stamped large flower. I put the Paper Masks back in position when I was ready to stamp the two double leaves above the stamped images. I re-positioned the large flower mask so I could stamp another double leaf coming from the right-hand side of the lower large flower!
I started colouring all three flowers using the Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend. When I had finished all three, I went back with the Dark Petal Pink Blend and coloured the centre areas, all the bits of the petals that look if they have folded back over themselves and also added some Dark Petal Pink on the stamped black lines. After doing this twice on all three flowers, I went over with my Light Petal Pink to blend the colours together! I used the same technique on the leaves using Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
I was really pleased how it all came together and decided to highlight the outside images by going around all the edges with my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend. The measurements for my card are as follows: the Petal Pink CS card base measures 8¼” x 5¾” (21cm x 14.6cm) US 8½” x 5½” scored and folded at 4⅛” (10.5cm) US 4¼”. The Basic White CS middle layer measures 3⅞” x 5½” (9.9cm x 14cm) US 4” x 5¼”and the piece of Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper (this is a Hostess gift) measures 3¾” x 5⅜” (9.6cm x 13.7cm) US 3⅞” x 5⅛”
The layers inside the card are a Basic White middle layer which measures 3⅞” x 5½” (9.9cm x 14cm) US 4” x 5¼” and a top layer of Petal Pink CS which measures 3¾” x 5⅜” (9.6cm x 13.7cm) US 3⅞” x 5⅛”. I stamped the smaller flower in the bottom right-hand corner before I adhered the layers together and then into the card.
The sentiment HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set and the Old Olive ribbon I wrapped around the two larger layers is retired Stampin’ Up! ribbon from my stash. Another retired product I’ve use are the Gol Glitter Dots that I added to the centre of each flower and three smaller dots around the outside. That’s about it from me today.
I look forward to being back with you soon and in the meantime, please take care and stay safe, happy crafting.
JanB. xx
