Hello, Crafters.
There are no prizes for guessing what today is! Yes! It’s our third wedding anniversary and I’m sharing the card I made for hubby for our special day! We are having something special made as a gift to ourselves but it won’t be ready for about eight weeks so I’m going to park it here and share it when we have received it! This morning I’m visiting Sharon to get my nails done and this evening we’re going to have dinner in a pub that offers an amazing selection of gluten free starters, main courses and desserts!! It’s about a twenty minute drive from here so we don’t have far to go!
I chose the Wild & Sweet Stamp Set to create hubby’s card because he loves all animals and I picked the panda because he’s asleep (I think!) Hubby is very fortunate in as much as if he feels tired during the day, he can close his eyes for twenty minutes for a catnap and wake up totally refreshed! I’m the opposite! If I’m tired and close my eyes during the day, I have to have a wake up call after one hour or I’d just keep on sleeping until bedtime! LOL!
I used my Stamparatus to stamp the image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and die-cut it using the no. 6 die from the Deckled Rectangle Dies. After checking through my current stamp sets for a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY sentiment and drawing a blank, I had a look in my retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. I found what I was looking for in the Number of Years Stamp Set. This is the stamp set that matches the Large Numbers Dies.
Although I do have the dies, I knew I wouldn’t have enough room on my 7″ x 5″ card as well as the image I had chosen. I picked out a much smaller number 3 die from a retired set of dies called Playful Alphabet which retired (I think) last year. That set of dies doesn’t have the RD for 3rd but I found one in another set of retired dies called Little Numbers Dies. As you probably know, I keep all my layering, word, number and alphabet dies when they retire and use them for personal cards.
To colour the panda image I used my Light Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend for the tree, Dark Granny Apple Green for the leaves and Light Pool Party to colour around the outline to give the image a background. The Shimmer Paper I used as a layer for the image and the sentiment is part of the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper that’s in the soon-to-be retired Spring/Summer Mini catalogue. Although it looks like pink and blue in the catalogue the blue is more green and goes well with Pool Party!
To die-cut the image I used the no 6 die from the Deckled Rectangle dies. The measurements for the Shimmer Paper layer for the sentiment is 2¼” x 3⅝” and the Shimmer Paper layer for the image is a tad under 3⅛” x a tad over 4⅜”. For the Shimmer Paper hearts I used the retired dog punch – this is another retired product that I have used on several occasions since it retired!
I decorated the inside of my card with a middle layer of the Shimmer Paper and a top layer of Pool Party Cardstock (CS). Before I adhered them together, I re-positioned the image stamp on my Stamparatus and stamped the image in the bottom right-hand corner. I had some hearts left over from decorating the front so I added three in a line above the sleeping panda head inside the card! I wish I’d thought about doing this before I had done the front of my card!!
I hope you like today’s card! I’m hoping that hubby sees his card on my blog before I give it to him! That would add to his surprise!! I look forward to be back with you soon. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Happy crafting.
JanB. xx
