Many thanks for all your lovely comments following last week’s blog. It’s so good to be back! What a week it’s been! On Sunday, we met up for lunch with a couple of friends we hadn’t seen for six years! It felt like our conversation just picked up from where we left it last time! Before we knew it, it was 4pm! On Tuesday, I went to a cardmaking class that was run by Amanda who is in my team – more details of the projects we made will follow. Then on Wednesday, hubby’s new car was delivered! Oh what an amazingly happy bunny! He had to go out on business on Thursday so his was able to enjoy a very long drive!
This is the card I referred to last week when I said I used some of the offcuts. I made the card base using the bunny design sheet form the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper (DSP). My plan was to make a simple card with the Happy Birthday sentiment and a rabbit. Why does adding a rabbit to a card suddenly make it look like an Easter card?? I’m thinking I may have to change the sentiment! What do you think?
I started with a Boho Blue Cardstock (CS) card base and adhered a layer of Basic White CS plus a top layer of my chosen DSP. All measurements are listed below. Using Boho Blue Ink, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set onto a scrap of Basic White CS. After I had punched it out using the Double Oval Punch, I also punched the larger scalloped oval using the same punch.
Next, using Boho Blue Ink again, I stamped the rabbit from the Easter Bunny Stamp Set on Basic White CS. I punched it out using the Easter Bunny Punch. Using Mini Dimensionals I adhered the rabbit and the sentiment in position. To finish the rabbit, I adhered a small bow I’d made using a piece of retired Misty Moonlight Ribbon. I also added two retired silver flower gems to the sentiment.
I always add a plain piece of Basic White CS inside my cards as a place to write personal greetings. To add a bit of decoration to this layer, I took two leftover strips from my Flight & Airy DSP Thank You cards I shared last week, I adhered one piece along the top and one along the bottom making sure the peaks and valleys were identical, top and bottom. I turned the sheet over and trimmed off and part of the trim that was overhanging the edges on both sides. A small detail which adds a lot!
I went on to make a second card and made some slight changes. I added a dragonfly gem to the sentiment which I moved to the centre of the card. Instead of adding a bow to the rabbit, I wrapped the ribbon around the top two layers and finished in a bow in front of the rabbit. Card measurements and products used are listed below.
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a great weekend. Happy crafting.
