Today’s card was inspired by a layout I saw on Pinterest which used the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper (DSP) which is available FREE for a qualifying order during SAB which ends on 29th February 2024. For each card, I used different designs from the DSP together with Sweet Sorbet and Basic White Cardstock (CS). The sentiment is from the retired Zany Zebra Stamp Set. The stripe design is on the reverse of the floral design.
I made the stripe card first and the process for both cards is the same with one small change. I found it easy to die-cut the bee images with the floral background in three different sizes but I decided it was easier to die-cut the bees with the heart background as one large and two small images. I couldn’t see a middle-sized image that would avoid all the other bees in the design; it could be that it’s there and I just missed it!
My Basic White CS card base is the regular size I use with a middle layer of Sweet Sorbet CS and a top layer of DSP. (All measurements are below). I used the Deckled Circle Dies nos. 2, 3 and 4 for the images and nos. 3,4 and 5 for the Sweet Sorbet CS circle layers. I still number my dies by starting with the smallest dies first; that us, the smaller the die, the smaller the number.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the retired Zany Zebras Stamp Set and has been stamped in Sweet Sorbet Ink on Basic White CS. I used my trimmer to cut the straight sentiment on the stripe design so I could use it as two lines. You may recognise the punches I used on the flowery background card!! As well as the colour co-ordination, it was these two punches that drew me to Stampin’ Up! almost twelve years ago!
I used the Word Window Punch for the sentiment and the Modern Label Punch for the Sweet Sorbet CS layer. I went through my stash of gems to add a bit of bling to both cards and for added sparkle, I painted all the bees with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen! To finish off inside the cards, I fussy cut one each of the bees that are facing front. The images where adhered to the card front with Dimensionals and the sentiments were glued down to the DSP. I hope you like this week’s card.
My health continues to improve partly because I go out for a walk more or less everyday. We live on the side of a valley which means if we go for a walk locally, we have to walk up and down hills! This month I’ll be having my second three-monthly check-up and serves to remind me how quickly time goes by! I wish you all have a super weekend. Happy crafting.
